I worry that eventually technology will replace human interaction. There will be a generation of fools in the world, said Albert Einstein. John Tudor once said, "Everything but the technology is under human control thanks to technology." Without a doubt, modern communication technology has made the world a small, interconnected community. But as things stand, technology, like a coin, brings both advantages and disadvantages. The news will be what it is, and it will always have a variety of effects on candidates. It will be good, it will be bad, it will be both. (Mark E. Hyman) Prior to the internet, certain methods of learning and conducting research were put in place and appeared to be effective at the time. Some of these methods are still in use today, while others have faded with the passage of time and modern technology. The library, which is one of the oldest forms of research and could be referred to as the internet of olden days, had an index called the card catalog, and webpages were pages in paper books. The procedure was the same: come up with search terms, look them up in the index, and then read the referenced pages.

This study seeks to examine the factors responsible for students' failure in the English language taking Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State as a case study. The blame has continued to be shifted from teachers to parents, government, students and the society regarding who is responsible for students' failure in the English language in secondary schools. It is against this background the study seeks to find out who is responsible, with close attention to the poor formative assessment practice of English lessons by teachers and promotion of students irrespective of their failure in English at a lower level. Four research questions were raised to guide the study, and a survey research design was adopted for the conduct of the study with the use of a questionnaire as the instrument for gathering data to answer the research questions. The use of mean, standard deviation, frequency count and tables were used to present the results for ease of discussion and interpretation. The results show that teachers, government, students and parents contribute to the existence of this problem. The study concluded that the poor formative assessment practice by English teachers and the practice of promotion of students irrespective of their failure in English at a lower level contribute highly to students' failure in their certificate examinations. Finally, appropriate recommendations like regular supervision of teachers' classwork to ensure formative assessment is practised etc were given to solve the present and recurring problem.

THE ROLE OF INDUSTRY ON NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT; A CASE STUDY OF PRESCO PLC, OBARETINE STATE, EDO STATE

The role of industry in the socioeconomic development of a nation remains a subject of interest in modern societies. It is expected that industrial activities and operation will lead to improved socioeconomic development in their areas such industries are situated. It was on this premise that this study investigated the role of industry on national development using a case study of PRESCO PLC in Obaretin Community in Edo state, Nigeria. A total of 291 participants selected at random were sampled for this study. Useful data were elicited from these participants using a well-structured questionnaire. A simple descriptive analytical approach was utilised to address the research questions of interest. The results of the study indicated that more of the participants (77.4%) agreed that the siting of PRESCO contributed in alleviating poverty in the host community. Further findings revealed that PRESCO’s corporate social responsibility impacted, at least to a high extent, on the host community. The studyhowever, found that majority of the participants (82.6%) at least agreed that siting of PRESCO brought about high development to the host community. Although, it was found that 92.5 percent of the responses were of the view that PRESCO had provided employment to host community to at least a high extent. It was recommended amongst others, that the company should scale up her provision of basic facilities, endeavour to continuously initiate programmes that will support and promote small scale businesses in the area, and improve social and economic development of host community.

Abstract
This study examined effective public service in the administration of development plans of the federal government: a case study of Edo State. The main objectives of the study were to ascertain if there is any relationship between effective public service and administration of development plans of federal government in Edo State, examine the roles that has or should be played by the public service for Nigerians to benefit from good government and national development, and determine the challenges faced by the public service in promoting government policies for effective national development. The data collected were presented in a tabular form with focus on the major research questions in other to enable the researcher determine the results. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentage. The findings from the study revealed that the structural problem faced by the public service in promoting government policies in Nigeria is personnel regulation; personnel qualification and organizational structure are part of the challenges faced by the public service in promoting national development in Nigeria; the high level of corruption associated with the public service in Nigeria has hampered its role in promoting national development; the Nigerian public service lacks transparency and accountability; and that the ethno-religious hospitalities and the crisis of confidence from the populace compound the problems in the public service. The study further recommends that if the public service is to attain the desired results of development in Nigeria, far reaching reforms are needed, such as, recruitment and promotion of civil servants should be based on merit system as opposed to spoils system. This is because the enthronement of federal character principle of recruitment and other
spoils system have sacrificed efficiency and effectiveness in the Nigerian public service, while rules and regulations are sine qua non for systematic and orderly government, and there is a need for the mental attitudes and believes of the public servants to be reoriented, so that they can cope with the policies of new government.

Conflict is inevitable in every organization. This paper aims to determine the effect of industrial conflict management on employees' performance. The study was seeking to fulfill the objectives which was to determine the effect of organizational culture as an aspect of conflict management on employee performance in the Non-Academic Staff of University of Benin, Benin city, Edo State, Nigeria; the effect of organizational structure as an aspect of conflict management on employee performance in the Non-Academic Staff of University of Benin, Benin city, Edo State, Nigeria, the effect of training and development as an aspect of conflict management on employee performance in the Non Academic Staff of University of Benin, Benin city, Edo State, and to determine the effect of organizational leadership style as an aspect of conflict management on employee performance in the Non-Academic Staff of University of Benin, Benin city, Edo State, Nigeria. The population of the study was comprised of employees in the Non- Academic Staff of University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. The focus was on 135 Non- academic staffs of the University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Data was collected using the questionnaire which the researcher administered face to face to the respondents. 100 copies of questionnaire was administered to the respondents. The analysis was based on the data obtained from response to the questionnaire administered. The findings found out that organizational culture increases employee job satisfaction which made organizational culture a major explanatory variable of worker's morale, satisfaction and productivity. It was also concluded that training allows employees to acquire new skills and sharpen existing ones. Training and development reduces the cost of money to be spent on recruitment as a result of Improved productivity. Financial incentives are important as it affects employee’s performance as it ensures employees have a relatively higher productivity level so as to boost their morale for higher productivity. The study also concluded that Industrial conflict management boosts employee's performance and better position employees to be more productive thereby achieving organizational goals faster and smarter. And recommends that for a calm and peaceful organizational atmosphere, there should be good and healthy working relationships between management and employees to prevent and resolve conflicts. Conflicts should not be allowed to spiral out of control as it can be managed easily to prevent disagreements that will negatively affect decision making and employee performance. It was also recommended that organizations and their management to ensure they adequately pay their employees with incentive packages and bonuses to promote smooth operation and improved performance by employee.

THE IMPACT OF TEAM WORK ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE: A CASE STUDY OF EDO STATE BOARD OF INTERNAL REVENUE

This study investigated the impact of teamwork on organizational performance at the Edo State Board of Internal Revenue. Specifically, the study sought to identify the aspects of teamwork that enhance organizational effectiveness, examine the challenges employees face while working as a team, and assess how teamwork affects overall organizational performance. A survey research design was employed, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to thirty (30) employees across different departments. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency and percentage tables. Findings revealed that trust among team members, willingness to resolve problems, reliability, confidentiality, and effective leadership are key aspects that positively influence organizational effectiveness. The study also identified limited employee participation in decision-making and leadership-related constraints as major obstacles to teamwork. Furthermore, teamwork was found to improve task completion speed, service quality, utilization of skills, and organizational output. The study concluded that effective teamwork significantly enhances organizational performance. It is recommended that management strengthen team-building initiatives, promote employee involvement in decision-making, and provide regular training to foster collaboration and improve overall performance.

NON-FINANCIAL INCENTIVES AND EMPLOYEE PRODUCTIVITY IN THE BANKING SECTOR: A CASE STUDY OF SELECTED BANKS IN BENIN CITY

This study examined Non-Financial Incentives and Employee Productivity in the Banking Sector: A Case Study of Selected Banks in Benin City. The research aimed to assess the impact of non-financial incentives such as recognition, career development, job security, training opportunities, and conducive work environments on employees’ productivity levels. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, involving 245 respondents drawn from staff of selected commercial banks in Benin City. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and regression analysis to determine the influence of non-financial incentives on employee productivity. The findings revealed that non-financial incentives significantly enhance employee productivity in the banking sector (β = +0.420, p = 0.001). Specifically, recognition and appreciation of employees’ efforts were found to positively influence motivation and performance (β = +0.310, p = 0.003). Opportunities for career advancement and professional development also had a strong positive effect on productivity (β = +0.275, p = 0.005), while a supportive and comfortable work environment improved job
satisfaction and organizational commitment (β = +0.290, p = 0.004). The combined effect of non-financial incentives explained 62% of the variation in employee productivity (R² = 0.62, p = 0.000). The study concludes that non-financial incentives play a vital role in enhancing employee motivation, commitment, and overall productivity within the banking sector.It recommends that management of commercial banks should place greater emphasis on non-monetary reward systems, foster continuous career development programs, and promote a healthy organizational climate. Furthermore, policies aimed at improving job satisfaction, recognition, and participatory decision-making should be strengthened to sustain high performance and employee retention in the banking industry.

Bullying and aggression within educational institutions are complex social issues that can have profound effects on students' well-being and academic performance. To address this concern, this study investigates the incidence and prevalence of bullying and aggression among undergraduate students in University of Benin, Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria. A descriptive research design was employed, involving a diverse sample of 200 undergraduate students. Data was collected through structured questionnaires, allowing for a comprehensive examination of
demographic characteristics, bullying experiences, and perceptions of university responses. The findings indicates that 45% of respondents reported experiencing bullying or aggression during their academic journey. Furthermore, the study reveals diverse demographic characteristics among participants, including gender, age and academic level. Dissatisfaction with the university's response to reported incidents was notable among respondents. This study contributes valuable insights
into the complex issue of bullying and aggression within higher education settings. It underscores the need for tailored interventions, improved support systems, and policies that promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students. In this study, we delve into the fascinating world of protein folding, focusing on the hemoglobin molecule as a case study. Hemoglobin, a vital protein responsible for oxygen transport in the blood, undergoes intricate folding processes to achieve its functional form. Through computational simulations, experimental data analysis, and literature review, we explore the mechanisms underlying hemoglobin folding, highlighting key factors influencing its stability and dynamics.
