Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the impact of knowledge and attitudes of placed based learning on air pollution among University of Benin students To achieve the purpose of the study, three (3) research questions were raised and literature related to the study were also reviewed. The Quasi research design was used for this study and the population consist of one hundred students of 1001 Health, Safety and Environmental Education Students. A total of Fifty persons were selected using split half sampling technique to divide the total population. The instrument used for data collection was a self- structured questionnaire administered by the researcher with the aid of two trained research assistants. The questionnaire was validated by the project supervisor with the aid of two other lecturers in the department of health, safety and environmental education. The internal consistency method- Cronbach Alpha -’ was used to establish the reliability of the questionnaire by splitting the scores of the respondent into two halves and a reliability coefficient value of 0.75 was obtained. A total of Fifty questionnaires were administered to the sample respondents and data collected was analyzed using frequency counts and percentage. The result of this study indicates that the Experimental group have a high knowledge of air pollution than the control control group, and the students under the experimental group also showed positive attitude towards air pollution . Data collected analyze and revealed that the students understand the concept of air pollution and are also aware that air pollution contributes to climate change. This makes it more likely that correct and complete information on air pollution and it's implications on human health would be conveyed to respondents which could lead them to developing positive attitude toward it. Based on these it was recommended that Universities should incorporate sustained PBL activities into their environmental education cumcula. Also Institutions should implement strategies such as incentive programs, peer-led environmental campaigns, and awareness workshops to reinforce positive and cleaner air behaviors among students. Continuous exposure to sustainable practices may help bridge the gap between knowledge and attitude change.

Abstract
The data gathered from the survey of University of Benin students highlights significant insights regarding the factors contributing to drug abuse, its prevalence, and the impact of awareness campaigns. A total of 100 respondents participated, with a fairly balanced distribution of 47% male and 53% female students. The majority of respondents were below 18 years of age (36%), followed by those aged 18-22 years (28%). The survey also included students from various academic levels, with the largest group being in the 400 level (26%). In terms of reasons for drug abuse, peer pressure emerged as the dominant factor, with 76% of respondents acknowledging its influence. Curiosity and the easy availability of drugs on campus were also significant contributors, while academic stress and anxiety were less frequently cited as reasons for drug use. Despite these factors, a majority did not view drug abuse as a widespread issue at the university, with only 34% agreeing that many students were involved in drug abuse. Awareness campaigns, although successful in informing students about the dangers of drug abuse, have had limited success in changing behaviors. While 78% of respondents agreed that campaigns have raised awareness, only 10% felt that these initiatives have significantly reduced drug abuse. Additionally, most students believe that the campaigns need to be improved to reach a larger audience and to be more effective in changing attitudes toward drug use. Overall, while the campaigns have made progress in educating students, there remains a significant gap in their ability to influence behaviour and reduce drug abuse.

Abstract
This study examines the impact of political cross-carpeting on political development in Nigeria between 1999 and 2023. Political cross-carpeting, defined as the defection of politicians from one party to another, has become a recurring feature of Nigeria’s democratic landscape since the return to civilian rule in 1999. The research explores the causes, patterns, and consequences of this phenomenon, with particular attention to its implications for party stability, democratic consolidation, governance, and public trust in political institutions. Using a qualitative approach, the study draws on secondary data, including scholarly literature, media reports, and official records, to analyze trends in political defections across different electoral cycles. Findings indicate that cross-carpeting is largely driven by personal ambition, intra-party conflicts, weak ideological foundations of political parties, and the pursuit of political survival. While some argue that defections can strengthen political participation and realignment, the study finds that frequent cross-carpeting undermines party cohesion, weakens opposition parties, and disrupts policy continuity. Furthermore, the research reveals that the practice contributes to political instability, erodes voter confidence, and hampers the overall process of democratic consolidation in Nigeria. The study concludes that without stronger institutional frameworks, ideological party structures, and enforcement of anti-defection laws, cross-carpeting will continue to pose challenges to Nigeria’s political development. It recommends reforms aimed at strengthening party discipline, promoting internal democracy, and enhancing legal mechanisms to regulate defections.
