This study examined the role of older adults in family stability in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and a total of 520 questionnaires were administered to older adults across Egor LGA. In addition, an In-Depth Interview (IDI) guide was used to collect qualitative data from selected stakeholders to complement the survey findings. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, and mean scores), while qualitative responses were thematically analyzed. The findings revealed that older adults play crucial roles in family stability, with overall mean score of 3.74 out of 5.0 max for 5 likert scale (representing 74.8%) confirms that older adults play positive and multifaceted roles in sustaining family stability; and inferentially X 2=608.5 (p<0.05) reveals that older adults have significant role in family stability. Secondly, there was a positive and significant impact of the economic status of older adults have on family stability (overall mean = 3.78 (75.6%); X 2 = 538.9, P <0.05). Thirdly, there was also a positive and significant effect of support networks of older adults on family stability (overall mean = 3.50 (70%); X 2 = 450.1 (P<0.05). Lastly, the health status of older adults has no positive and significant impact on family stability (Overall mean = 3.31 (66.2%), X 2 = 329.3, P<0.05). these results were complemented by IDI responses. The study recommended targeted policies and interventions by government, families, social workers, and community organizations to support older adults’ economic empowerment, health, and social integration

The secondary school system of education in Nigeria assumes the role of training and producing students for tertiary institutions and manpower for national development and world of work. The general poor academic performance of students in Mathematics has become a source of great concern to all the stakeholders in education particularly the Mathematics educators, parents and the government. Educational Game is one of the strategies that have been found to enhance the attitude and academic achievement of students in many subjects including Mathematics. But many Mathematics teachers lack the knowledge of the role of Mathematical Games. The study therefore, examined the effects of Mathematical Games on 6 public senior secondary students’ academic performance in Mathematics in Egor, Edo State, Nigeria. The researchers adopted a quasi- experimental research design and used simple random sampling technique to select a secondary school for the study. A total of 100 students (32 experimental and 41 control groups) were involved in the study. The experimental group was exposed to Mathematical Games during the teaching of Mathematics for a period of three weeks while the control group was not exposed to Mathematical Games. Mathematics Performance Test (MPT) was used for data collection on students’ academic performance. The findings of the study revealed that the use of Mathematical Games has a significant positive effect on the academic performance of the students in Mathematics; the use of Mathematical Games was beneficial to students irrespective of their gender and scoring ability. It was recommended among other things that government should provide Mathematical Games for secondary school students and Mathematics teachers should incorporate the use of Mathematical Games into the teaching and learning of Mathematics.

The study examines the impact of teaching practice on the productivity of teachers in public secondary schools in Egor local government area of Edo state. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of 65 public secondary teachers in Egor local government. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using mean and standard deviation. From the finding, it unveiled that teachers encounter a plethora of challenges in implementing effective teaching practices, such challenges include lack of resources, insufficient support from school administrators, large class sizes, students’ varying learning styles and abilities, and students’ limited access to technology or resources outside of the classroom. The study recommended that Schools should ensure they cope with the changing technological environment and organizational climate by designing proper and functional in-service training and staff development programmes for their teachers to boost their morale, enhance their productivity and ensure that workers' training is conducted frequently in schools.

The study investigated the prevalence of deviant behaviours among senior secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, three research questions were raised and examined. The descriptive survey research method was adopted for the study. The sample size for the study was made up of 100 students. In analyzing the data, the researcher made use of frequency count and percentages to compute the findings from the research The findings from the study include that there is low prevalent rate of deviant behaviours among senior secondary school students in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is no significant difference in the prevalent rate of deviant behaviours among male and female students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that government should establish counselling services in all schools to address various aspects of students’ lives, including mental health, peer relationships, and family dynamics, to provide support and guidance for students at risk of deviant behaviour.

This study examined the determinants of cybercrimes among youths in Egor LGA of Edo State. The objectives of the study were to: investigate the relationship between unemployment rates and the incidence of cybercrime among youths in Egor LGA of Edo State, ascertain the effects of peer-influence on youth engagement in cybercrime in Egor LGA of Edo State, examine the role access to technology and the internet play in facilitating cybercrime among unemployed youths in Egor LGA of Edo State, and evaluate the role of penal institution in curbing the menace of youth unemployment and cybercrime in Egor LGA of Edo State. The study employed a descriptive cross-sectional design, and the targeted population for the study were residents between the age of 15 to 35 in Egor LGA. The study employed a purposive sampling method in purposively targeting youths who are involved in cybercrime from among the total population of youths in Egor L.G.A, and a sample size of five hundred (500) youths within the age bracket of (15-35) were selected from Egor LGA. Hence, data for the study were analysed using descriptive statistics. The descriptive method described the demography of respondents using frequency and percentage, and the hypotheses of the study were tested with chi-square and correlation. The analysis was conducted using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS 30.0) software. However, findings from the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between unemployment and youths’ involvement in cybercrime in Egor LGA of Edo State, there is association between peer-influence and youth engagement in cybercrime in Egor LGA of Edo State, there is a correlation between technology and the internet on youth engagement in cybercrime in Egor LGA of Edo State, and the penal institution and relevant government institutions have a significant role to play in curbing the menace of cybercrime among youths in Nigeria. The study then recommended that it is important for the government to develop government and private sector initiatives aimed at creating job opportunities for youths. This could include internships, apprenticeships, and skills training in high-demand areas such as technology, agriculture, and craftsmanship; there is need for the government and other relevant authorities to provide resources for young entrepreneurs through grants, low-interest loans, and business development training, as encouraging innovation and self-employment can distract youths from engaging in cybercrime for quick financial gain; at the community level, there is need to launch campaigns to educate communities about the dangers of cybercrime and the importance of ethical behaviour online, as engaging local leaders can help reinforce these messages; it is important to foster partnerships between educational institutions and tech companies to create programs aimed at equipping youths with relevant technical skills, as these partnerships can lead to internships and job placements; and there is need to establish innovation hubs and tech incubators that provide resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities for young tech enthusiasts to develop their ideas in a supportive environment.
