Abstract
This study explores the intricate effects of family norms on language use - using the Igbo language as a case study. The theoretical framework employed in this research work is the Ethnography of Communication SPEAKING model proposed by Dell Hymes of 1964.This theoretical framework was deemed suitable and appropriate for this research because it shows that communication is a comprehensive and intricate act that requires an expect manipulation on the part of the speaker and good listening skills on the addressee’s part. Oral data were gathered through an oral interview from adult male and female within the ages of forty (40) - sixty (70) years and above of the Igbo language native speakers. Some of the findings of this research includes that in the Igbo family, idioms and metaphor could be employed to share experiences and impact wisdom indirectly. For example, the idiom “mmada aburo chukwu” (No one is God). Also, the intricate interplay between politeness, respect and hierarchy within an Igbo family profoundly influences language use. This linguistics etiquette sustains the rich cultural heritage, fosters strong bonds and upholds the values and harmony across generations. Also, in conversation, it is customary to acknowledge elders first before addressing others. This demonstrates hierarchical structure and respect for age. Depending on the time of day, customary greeting such as “ututu oma” (good morning) or “Ehihi oma” (good morning) are exchanged as a sign of respect for age.

Abstract
This study aimed to assess the awareness and practice ofmental health promotion among students of the University of Benin, with a focus on identifying the factors that facilitate or hinder mental health-promoting behaviors.
A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted among 240 randomly selected students from various faculties within the university. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that assessed participants' awareness of mental health, their attitudes towards mental health promotion, and their engagement in mental health-promoting behaviors. The questionnaire also gathered information on participants'demographic characteristics, including age, gender, and faculty. The results of the study showed that the majority of the participants were aware of the importance of mental health and expressed a willingness to engage in practices that promote mental health. However, despite this awareness and willingness, only a few of the participants reported practicing mental health-promotion. Further analysis revealed that the low engagement in mental health-promoting behaviors among the participants was largely due to the low availability and accessibility ofmental health services within the university.
The findings ofthis study highlight the need for targeted interventions to enhance mental health awareness and practice among university students. Specifically, the study recommends that the university increase the availability and accessibility ofmental health services, provide education and training on mental health promotion, and promote a culture ofmental health awareness and support among students, faculty, and staff.

Abstract
uminants depend mostly on all year-round grazing on natural pastures residue. Most of these areas face seasonal dry periods in which the availability of these pasture decreases and also, its quality by a reduction in the content of digestible energy and nitrogen. Ruminant livestock raised in Nigeria tend to reflect the cyclical variation in quality and quantity of these available for ages. Although ruminants are endowed with the ability to convert low quality feed into high quality animal protein and utilize feeds from land not suitable for cultivation of crops, however, the utilization of these low-quality crop residues is hampered by its low protein content, fiber content, digestibility, vitamin and minerals. Biodegradation of crop residues using edible mushroom has been reported to give rise to products with enhanced nutritive values that promote farm animal performance. This study was carried out to determine the effect of biodegradation period on the chemical composition and in vitro fermentation of rice straw with 60% palm oil sludge (POS) in ruminant feeding. Different inclusion rate of palm oil sludge (POS) and rice straw such as 0%RS, 40%RS and 100% RS at different biodegradation periods; 0, 2, 4 and 6 weeks. The substrates used were dried, mixed to inclusion levels (40% rice straw and 60% palm oil sludge), inoculated with fungal (Pleurotus tuber-regium) to aid biodegradation and further milled to uniform power. Chemical composition and in vitro fermentation study were carried out and data analyzed. However, there was no significant difference between the chemical composition, gas volume production and shown by the data analyzed but the post in vitro gas production has significant difference. Thus, this result shows that it can be included in ruminant diets as an increase in crude protein and decrease in crude fiber and methane gas production.

Abstract
This study investigates the feasibility of utilizing locally sourced flint, borax, kaolin and other suitable glaze raw materials in Edo State for the production of low-melting glazes. Consequently, sourcing and utilization of glaze suitable raw materials for formulation of low melting glaze at studio level has been problematic despite the significant role of glaze in ceramic production, scarcity and development of local glaze for use including dependance on imported glaze raw materials for glaze formulation have created the inability to glaze ceramic products in the ceramic unit of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts in the University of Benin. Effort was made with this study to bridge the foregoing goal by identifying and sourcing flint, borax, kaolin and other suitable glaze raw materials locally to formulate low melting glaze of 1050°c. The raw materials were characterized and formulated into glaze compositions. The glazes compositions were then applied to ceramic test tiles and were fired to different temperatures. The results show that the locally sourced raw materials can be used to produce low-melting glazes with desirable properties. The study demonstrates the potential for local sourcing and utilization of raw materials in Edo State, promoting Economic Development, Sustainability, and Innovation in the ceramic industries in Nigeria.

DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF A PYROLYSIS REACTOR

Year of Publication

Abstract
Over the years, we have seen a great increase in the production of plastics due to its inclusion in many sectors. This huge surge in the production of plastics has also seen a rapid increase in plastic waste, the increase in plastic waste is due to some factors like: plastics take around 500 years to decompose, recycling of plastics takes more energy and costs more than the production of new plastics, each time plastics are recycled, they become weaker. The need to find adequate disposal methods and proper management of plastics has never been more important, this led to the research of thermal pyrolysis and also the design and fabrication of a pyrolysis reactor. Pyrolysis is the thermal decomposition of waste in an oxygen free (inert) environment, this process makes it possible to thermally decompose plastic wastes and derive useful fuel oils from them. In this research, three experiments were carried out using different types of plastics namely: Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). These three plastics gave different results after the pyrolysis process.

Abstract
This project, "The Impact of Christian Association in Conflict Resolution in Nigeria 2006-2011," examines the role, potential, and limitations of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as a major non-state actor in fostering peace and managing conflict within the Nigerian state during a critical period of heightened ethno-religious tension. Nigeria is characterized by complex, often violent, conflicts stemming from political, economic, and social instability intertwined with religious, ethnic, and resource-based differences. This study investigates CAN's organizational structure, its foundation (rooted in the ecumenical imperative "That they all may be one"), and its objectives to promote national understanding, peace, and moral welfare. The core of the research lies in analyzing the tangible mechanisms CAN deploys for conflict resolution and peacebuilding, such as dialogue, seminars, workshops, and evangelism of peace, emphasizing the use of religious values to mediate disputes. While acknowledging that historical scholarship has often focused on the politicization of CAN, this work argues for the significance of CAN's social and economic roles in addressing societal ills—the bedrock for sustainable peace. The study adopts a historical methodology, utilizing both primary and secondary sources, to critically assess CAN's impact and evaluate the challenges it faces, including issues of internal unity, external opposition, and historical record-keeping deficiencies, in its sustained effort to be a credible and effective peacebuilding organization in the Nigerian polity.
