Abstract
The research work investigated the Impact of child rearing practices prevalent
among the Binis:A case study of pre-primary school pupils in Oredo Local
Government Area, Edo State. Four research questions were raised to guide the
study. One was answer why three were formulated into hypotheses and tested at
0.05 level of significance.
The study adopted the descriptive survey design and
the population of the study consists of preschool teachers in private nursery
schools and parents in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. Three
school were selected for the study. 10 teacher and 10 parent were selected from
each school using convenience sampling technique.
The research instrument
was a questionnaire which was validated by the researcher's supervisor and two
others at the Institute of Education, and the reliability was ascertained using
Cronbach Alpha statistics and gave the value 0.84. The data collected were
analyzed using mean, standard deviation for research question one, while the
hypothesis were tested at 0.05 level of significance, using independent sample
t-test and the analysis of variance. The findings that emerged include the prevalent
child rearing practices among the Binis which were Authoritative, Authoritarian,
Permissive and uninvolved parenting Authoritative ranked as the first and
uninvolved as the least. There was no significant difference in child rearing
practices among the Binis based on location, parent religious background and
qualifications. Based on the findings, it was recommended that cultural and
religious bodies should ensure that children are being given the necessary care,
attention and guidance that they need to grow well by creating public awareness
and conducting programs to this effect. M

Abstract
The study examines the effect of training on employees’ performance in Ugbowo Bakeries, Benin
City. Training is a purposeful required skills, knowledge and attitudes in an employee in any
organization. It is the process of developing an individual’s skills, knowledge md abilities so as to
improve the present and future productivity. Employees’ utilization and performance in the
Nigerian bakeries service are considered to be very poor.
The study basically adopted the survey research design in which structured questionnaire will be
designed and distributed to the respondents. The population for this research was the employees
of Ugbowo bakeries in Benin, Benin City, Edo state. The study uses the combination of stratified
random sampling (SRS) and convenience sampling. For this research, sample size was 100
employees of Ugbowo bakeries in Benin. Researcher used the survey method for collection of data
with instrument of questionnaire.
The result indicated that there is a significant relationship between training design and employees’
performance in Ugbowo bakeries, it was also indicated that positive and significant relationship
between training programmes and employees’ performance in Nigerian bakeries lastly, positive
and significant relationship between training policies and employees’ performance in Nigerian
bakery. The study recommends that employees should be exposed to regular professional training
areas such as career or development, pre-service, on-the-job training and off-the-job training as to
enhance their performance. It is also necessary for the employees to be exposed to training policies
and workshops to enable them keep abreast with the challenges posed by the Nigerian bakeries.

Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the knowledge and perception of pregnant women in
Ikphoba-Okha LGA towards the benefits of exercise in pregnancy. A total of two hundred (200)
respondents who are pregnant women were selected for this study.
A descriptive survey research design was used. Instrument used for data collection was a
questionnaire which was developed by the researcher. It was validated by two (2) experts in the
field of Human Kinetics and Sports Science. The simple count, frequency percentage was used to
analyse the demographic information of students. Mean and standard deviation was used to
analyse the response of the respondents to the research questions raised.
Findings of this study was able to basically discover that the respondents are adequately aware
of the benefits of exercise during pregnancy and they have great and positive perception towards
the benefits of exercise during pregnancy. The respondents were also discovered to participate
so well in exercise during pregnancy although few of them signified that they don’t regularly get
involved in exercise during pregnancy. Some factors were identified to influence how pregnant
women in the study get involved in exercise and these factors include lack of motivation, level of
maternal health education, lack of time and how available the facilities for exercise are. Hence,
it is important to declare that these factors must be specifically assessed and addressed in the
study to ensure and encourage the involvement of pregnant women in regular exercise.

Abstract
“Language is defined as a purely human and non-instinctive method of
communicating ideas, emotions and desires by means of voluntary produced
symbols". Edward Sapir (1922). The word "language " is used in modern times not
only for natural languages like Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Edo, English, French but also
for a variety of the system of communication. Language is used to serve a variety
of needs which are either positive or negative in every society. This study
undertakes an exploration of the sociolinguistic dimension surrounding taboos
within the Ora community. Taboos, serving as cultural and social limitations,
govern conduct and language usage within the confines of a distinct community.
Understanding these taboos is crucial for corresponding within the Ora society.
This investigation delves into the essence, purpose and consequence of taboos in
language applications as well as their ramifications on social bonds and cultural
traditions. This work investigates the sociolinguistic features of taboos as they are
used among the members of the Ora language community. The research adopts
Hymes Ethnography of communication (1962) as the framework of investigation.
Utilizing the SPEAKING model derived from Ethnography of communication
theory, data is analysed. This data is sourced from the Natives of Ora language,
aimed at exploring the nature of Taboos. Furthermore, the study underscore how
the presence of taboos and the use of euphemism aids in regulating responsible and
prosperous living within the Ora society. Through an examination of available data,
the research also confirms that employing euphemistic language serves to prevent
language taboos and enhance effective and responsible communication.

Abstract
Numerical schemes for the integration of stiff initial value problems are required to possess wide region of absolute stability which include the entire left of the complex plane. Numerical schemes that are explicit usually do not attain the requirement for
integration of stiff initial value problems. In this study, implicit second derivative Runge Kutta methods are constructed for the integration of stiff initial value problems. A family of generalised second derivative mono-implicit Runge-Kutta (GSDMIRK) method is derived using the method of Tailor series expansion. The proposed GSDMIRK methods are 𝐴-stable for stage 𝑠=3 𝑎𝑛𝑑 4 and 𝐴(∝)-stable for =5 𝑎𝑛𝑑 6. Numerical experiments show that the GSDMIRK methods perform better when compared to some numerical algorithms in the literature.
