TAX MORALE AND TAX COMPLIANCE IN NIGERIA

Year of Publication
Publication Type
Abstract
This study investigates the determinants of tax compliance in Nigeria, focusing on tax morale, trust in government, moral ethics, tax knowledge, tax rates, and the system of tax payment. Utilizing a comprehensive data analysis approach with a sample size of 100 .The research examines the influence of these variables on taxpayer behavior. The findings reveal that while tax compliance is relatively high among Nigerians, there is significant distrust in government institutions. Moral ethics positively influence tax compliance, although this relationship is not statistically significant. Conversely, increased tax knowledge is associated with lower tax compliance, suggesting that better-informed taxpayers may exploit loopholes or become more critical of the tax system. Tax rates have a positive and significant impact on compliance, indicating that perceived fairness in tax rates encourages adherence to tax obligations. The system of tax payment, while positively related to compliance, does not show a statistically significant impact. These insights suggest that enhancing tax compliance in Nigeria requires a multifaceted strategy that includes building trust in government, promoting ethical standards, designing effective tax education programs, and ensuring fair tax rates. The study concludes with recommendations for policymakers and highlights areas for further research to deepen the understanding of tax compliance dynamics in Nigeria

Background: Ear infections, also known as otitis media, are a common type of bacterial infection that mostly affect children. Plasmid profiling is a molecular technique used to identify and characterize the types of plasmids carried by bacterial isolates. This technique has a wide range of applications in microbiology, including the study of bacterial epidemiology, antibiotic resistance, and gene transfer. It can provide valuable information about the genetic diversity of bacterial populations and the mechanisms by which bacteria acquire and transfer resistance genes. Methods: The study evaluated a hundred and twenty seven patients from the Ear, Nose and Throat department at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin city. Patient’s data collected were age, gender, alcohol history, smoking history, medical history, Frequency of symptoms, ears affected, use of cotton bud, ear cleaning frequency among others. Isolates obtained were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing and plasmid curing with 0.1mL and 0.4mL Ethidium bromide as the curing agent using standard agar disc diffusion method. Results: A total of 73.68% of our study participants were female, and 14.47% were male. Participants aged 21-25 had the highest occurrence (34.6%), linked to the patients ear cleaninghabits. The prevalence of Staphylococcus spp and Pseudomonas aeruginosa from both aerobic and anaerobic Isolate was the highest (49.33% and 47.06%) in the bacterial isolates obtained from study participants after incubation. The most prevalent mult-idrug resistant isolate was Staphylococcus aureus (25%) for aerobic isolate and Pseudomonas spp for anaerobic Isolate. Fluoroqinolones was the most effective antibiotics used for antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Post
curing with 0.1mg/ml and 0.4mg/ml Ethidium bromide,33.33%,100% and 0% was cured after further antimicrobial susceptibility testing with Fluoroqinolones, Macrolides and Penicillin) respectively. Conclusion:The presence of plasmid-mediated multidrug resistance genes in bacteria isolates from patients with ear infection underscores the need for antibiograms and responsible antibiotic usage in the management of ear infection.

Abstract
The natural ripening process of fruit involves a series of physical and chemical transformations, leading to sweetness, coloration, softness, and enhanced taste. This research aimed to explore the impacts of two ripening methods on the nutritional value, namely; calcium carbide and woodash, on orange. Freshly plucked green matured oranges were used for the determination of proximate analysis and mineral content (potassium (k), phosphorus (p), calcium(Ca), sodium(Na). Calcium carbide had the highest Ca, Mg, P, Na (111.10 mg/100g, 108.25mg/100g, 50.05mg/100g and 50.30mg/100g respectively and also shows significant differences between the two ripening methods based on the contents respectively. The results of the study showed that
using calcium carbide as a ripening agent significantly reduced the nutrients in the fruit. Because of itspossible effects on nutritional quality, ash has been used as a preservative in food preservation. Thestudy evaluates changes in important nutritional characteristics such vitamins, minerals, and antioxidantsusing analytical techniques, such as nutritional analysis with untreated oranges. The results shed light onthe effectiveness of ash as a preservative and how it affects oranges' nutritional value.

Abstract
A gas Detector is an electronic device that is installed in a building to detect the presence of gas to prevent fire outbreak. An automatic alarm system is designed to detect the unwanted presence of gas by monitoring environmental changes associated with combustion. In general, an alarm system is classified as either automatically actuated, manually actuated, or both. Automatic alarm systems are intended to notify the building occupants to evacuate in the event of a gas leakage or other emergency, report the event to an off-premises location in order to summon emergency services, and to prepare the structure and associated systems to control the spread of fire and gas. The gas detector system composes of a light dependent resistor (LDR) which works as a gas sensor. Light dependent resistor is a type of resistor with high resistance in the presence of light and which reduces in its resistance when gas passes through the surface. The aim of this project is to design and construct a fire alarm for a building that will detect the presence of gas leakages in a building.
