Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of the leadership style of the principal on the performance of secondary school teachers in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. To guide the study four research questions were raised and answered directly. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of five hundred and thirty-nine (539) teachers from the 14 public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. a sample of one hundred (100) teachers from 5 public secondary schools was randomly selected for the study. The research instrument used to gather data for the study was a Questionnaire titled Principal’s Leadership Styles and Teachers’ Performance Questionnaire (PLSTPQ). Data collected were analyzed using the descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation). The findings revealed that the most commonly used leadership style in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State is the Democratic leadership style. The study also revealed that the level of effectiveness of principal’s leadership styles and teachers’ level of performance in secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State is high. It was concluded that the effectiveness of principal’s leadership style positively affects teachers’ performance in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate "The impact of information technology in the information seeking behaviour of library users in Benson Idahosa University.Twenty questions This study adopted the descriptive survey design for the study and the major instrument for data collection was the questionnaire.The questionnaire was validated by the project supervisor.Thetargeted population of the study comprise of 335 students of library and information science, Benson Idahosa University, Benin, Edo state. A sample size of 101 respondents was selected using the McMorgan (2005)table for determining sample size. The result from the study shows that the information seeking behaviour of students are changing rapidly due to the emergence of web resources and this has an impact on the information seeking behaviour of library users in Benson Idahosa Univerity, Benin City, Edo state. The Information Technology (IT) has enabled libraries to improve service deliveries to students of Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Edo State. Most current information are recorded in electronic formats and made easily accessible and retrievable for library users in Benson Idahosa University

Abstract
The study investigated the impact of teachers’ qualification on students’ academic performance in Economics in public senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of one hundred (100) respondents randomly selected from20 public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using frequency count and simple percentage. The findings from the study include that there is significant impact of teachers’ qualification on students’ academic performance in Economics in public senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is a significant impact of teachers’ qualification on students’ participation in classroom activities in Economics in public senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

Abstract
This study was carried out to study the instructional material and student academic performance in public junior secondary school in Egor local government area of Edo state. To therefore achieve the objectives of the study three (3) research questions were raised. A descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The study population comprises all students of public junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The total number of students in public junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area is 12,000 students, based on the statistics provided by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). The sample of this study comprised 100 junior secondary school students, selected from 10 secondary schools out of the 12 public juniour secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State. The instrument used for data collection in this study was the “Instructional Materials and Students’ Academic Performance Questionnaire” (IMSAPQ). The validity of the questionnaire was established by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Educational Management. The observations, opinions, suggestions, and corrections made by these experts were incorporated into the final version of the instrument, ensuring that it accurately measures the intended constructs. To determine the reliability of the instrument, the test-retest procedure was adopted. Thereafter, their responses on the two occasions was collated and correlated to determine its correlation coefficient using Pearson product movement correlation statistics the instruments yielded a coefficient value of 0.72 which shows that the instrument was reliable. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that instructional materials significantly enhance the academic performance of students in public junior secondary schools in the Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. While overall academic performance is high, there is a notable gap in English performance in certain schools, which points to an area requiring focused improvement. The use of varied instructional materials, including visual, digital, and audio-visual resources, is linked to improved student engagement, understanding, and retention. However, the discrepancies in performance across schools highlight the need for targeted interventions, particularly in schools where English language performance lags behind. Based on the findings, it is recommended that: Government and Educational Authorities should invest in providing schools with a more consistent supply of instructional materials, including digital and visual resources, to ensure all students have access to high-quality learning tools. Teachers should receive regular professional development opportunities to enhance their proficiency in using instructional materials effectively, with a focus on integrating digital and multimedia tools into their teaching strategies

This examined the Work- Life Balance and Teachers’ Effectiveness In Private Primary Schools In Oredo Lga Of Edo State, Nigeria, Six research questions were raised to guide this study.The population of the study consist of all eighty-six (86) teachers from the 25 private primary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size selected for this study is 80 teachers from the total population, this was selected using simple random sampling technique.The following findings of the study revealed that; Teachers who reported heavy workloads, particularly extended teaching hours and administrative duties, expressed difficulty in effectively managing their professional responsibilities. This affected their teaching quality, including lesson preparation, student engagement, and individual attention. Many teachers found it hard to balance work with personal life, leading to burnout and decreased performance. Schools that offered organizational support, such as flexible working hours, reduced administrative burden, andsufficient planning time, saw an increase in teacher effectiveness. Teachers in such environments exhibited higher job satisfaction, engagement, and a more positive approach to their roles. The following recommendations were made;Private primary schools should develop and implement formal work-life balance policies (including flexiblescheduling, manageable non-teaching duties,and clear boundaries for after-hours tasks) to enhance teachereffectiveness.School administrators should monitor and regulate teachers’ workload (teaching hours, administrative responsibilities,extra-curricular duties) to ensure that these do not encroach excessively on preparation time, rest,or personal life

1 STUDY HABITS AS CORRELATE TO ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

This study investigated study habits as correlate to academic performance in public secondary school in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study. The design adopted for this study is the descriptive survey method. The population for the study comprised 7,658 student from 27 public secondary schools in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. A total one hundred and fifty (150) students chosen from ten (10) public secondary schools in the LGA. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents. The research instrument was validated by lecturer of the Department of Educational Management. Data collected from the survey was statistically analyzed. After analysis, results were displayed on tables showing frequencies and percentages of responses, including the decision made. The study found that students in Ovia North-East Local Government Area demonstrate mixed study habits, with strengths in goal setting but struggles with planning and procrastination. Their academic performance is satisfactory but inconsistent. A strong correlation between effective study habits and better academic outcomes was noted, with time management playing a crucial role. Recommendations include implementing structured study timetables, offering academic support programs, integrating lessons on study skills, and promoting study sessions of two hours or more to enhance performance.

This study examined the record management practices and challenges in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.Seven research questions was raised to guide this study. The population for this research consists of all the principals in the 13 public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.The 13 principal will be automatically adopted as the sample population given the fact that it is researchable. No sampling technique is used to select the 13 principals in the 13 public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The analysis of the data produced the following findings That the predominant record management practices in Egor LGA secondary schools are generally high, leaning toward modern and organized approache that the challenges in managing school records are generally high and require strategic attention, especially in areas of staff training and infrastructure development.Urban schools appear to have an advantage in terms of digital access and support, while rural schools continue to struggle with staffing and logistical issues, the following recommendations are offered:There should be a clear, LGA- wide records management policy for all schools that standardizes file classification, indexing, retention and disposal schedules, privacy rules, and access controls, with principals held accountable for compliance.There should be continuous capacity building for records officers and administrative staff, including practical training on basic records lifecycle, digital filing, data protection, and use of simple database or spreadsheet tools.There should be phased digitization of core records such as admission, attendance, assessment, transfers, and staff records, with secure
backups, off-site storage, and a routine for verifying data quality.

This study investigates the influence of principals leadership styles in students’ academic performance in public secondary schools in egor local government area (4) research questions were raised for the study. The study adopted survey research design. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire; it was built around the research question by the researcher and validated by the researcher’s supervisor. Data collected were analyzed using frequency count, percentages The findings of the study revealed that prevalent leadership style is more effectively; It is evident that there is a diverse range of dominant principal leadership styles, including Transformational, Democratic, Authoritarian, and Laissez-Faire styles, all of which are generally perceived positively, it further reveals that different leadership style positively affect overall teaching effectiveness in school and that there are also areas for improvement identified within the perceived school climate, particularly concerning consistency in discipline and direction. Additionally, there are notable differences in leadership styles based on gender, with implications for the school climate. Implement leadership development programs for principals and aspiring leaders that focus on fostering transformational and democratic leadership styles. These programs should emphasize empowerment, inclusivity, and support to create positive school climates. Address concerns regarding consistency in discipline and direction by establishing clear policies and procedures. Provide ongoing training and support for school staff to ensure consistency in implementation. Strengthen supportive systems within schools by promoting collaboration among staff, providing resources for student and staff well-being, and establishing mechanisms for feedback and support. Offer gender sensitivity training for school administrators to raise awareness of gender biases and stereotypes in leadership practices. Encourage gender-inclusive leadership approaches that value diverse perspectives and experiences

The study investigated availability of current and up-to-date information resources as a determinant for effective utilization of academic library by undergraduates. The study aims to evaluate the level of availability of current and up-to-date information resources, evaluate the level of utilization and determine the effectiveness of current and up-to-date information resources on the utilization of John Harris Library by undergraduates, examine the importance and evaluate the benefits of the use of current and up-to-date information resources for undergraduate students. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study consisted of two hundred and ninety-eight (298) undergraduate students from the department of library and information science. However, a sample size of eighty-nine (89) respondents was used for the study. The instrument used for data collection in the study was the questionnaire designed by the researcher and administered to the target respondents. The data generated with the questionnaire were carefully collated and analysed with the statistics method of data analysis such as frequency table, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings from the study indicated that current and up-to- date information resources are important to undergraduate students of University of Benin, the study unveiled that current and up-to-date information resources help students with their assignments and course work, useful for their academic pursuit, useful to their for critical thinking, quick and easy learning, and reduced their costs on a book purchase. Through these information resources, students gain easy access to quick, broader, and quality collection of information and improve their academic performance.Based on the findings, it was recommended among others: University management needs to intensify efforts to make the GST - Use of Library course and library orientation for students to be more effective in enhancing the utilization of the library information resources. University management should make sure that adequate fund is made available to the university libraries to enable them to acquire all the necessary information resources to satisfy the information needs of undergraduates and other library users.

This study aimed at examining the impact of civic education on political participation in students’ unionism in Nigeria. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The design adopted for this study was the survey research design. The sample consisted of 400 basically University of Benin Students. Questionnaires were used for the collection of data from 400 (Four hundred) respondents. The research instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor. The test re-test method was adopted instruments were administered by the researcher herself. The data obtained were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. Findings revealed that students have awareness and understanding of political issues among Nigerian students unionism. It was also revealed that there are roles of civic education in empowering Nigerian students’ unionism to actively participate in the political process and make informed decisions. Based on the findings, it was recommended that Civic education should target the whole citizenry from early ages through to adulthood. Thus, the education should be conducted for both school and out of school person
