Abstract
The study was carried out to investigate the roles of the school library on the academic achievement of public senior secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The design of the study is descriptive while the population comprised of students of SS1 and SS2 in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size for the study was 120
respondents while a researcher self-developed questionnaire formed the instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by the project supervisor. A structured questionnaire titled “The Roles of the School Library on the Academic Achievement of the Secondary School Student” was used for collection of data from respondents. The data was analyzed using
frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation. Findings from the study reveal that public senior secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State recognize library's significance in their academic endeavors; act as catalyst for academic success, play an instrumental role in shaping their students' academic habits, and success with the majority
actively leveraging its resources to enhance their academic performance. Based on these, the researcher recommends that there should be continuous improvement and expansion of library resources, promote the awareness of library services among students, encourage collaborative learning among others
