Abstract
This study assessed the availability and utilization of physical facilities and their influence on teachers’ effectiveness in public senior secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District, Nigeria. The study was motivated by concerns over inadequate and poorly utilized educational facilities, which have been linked to declining instructional quality and teacher performance. Guided by the Resource Dependence Theory and Herzberg’s Two-Factor (Motivation-Hygiene)Theory, there search investigated the extent of availability and utilization of school facilities, differences in teachers’ effectiveness by gender, and the influence of school size on these relationships. The study employed a descriptive survey design, drawing data from selected public senior secondary schools within the district.Data were collected through a structured questionnaire validated by experts and analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and z-test statistics at a 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that physical facilities in public senior secondary schools were generally inadequate and underutilized, leading to reduced teacher effectiveness. Moreover, significant differences were observed in facility utilization based on gender and school size. The study concluded that adequate provision, proper maintenance,and effective utilization of physical facilities are essential to improving teachers’ performance and achieving educational goals. It recommended that government and school administrators prioritize infrastructure development, ensure regular facility maintenance, and train teachers on efficient resource utilization to enhance instructional outcomes and promote sustainable educational development in Edo State.

Abstract
This study was designed to analyze school climate and students academic performance in public junior secondary school in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Three research questions were raised to guide the study. What is the predominent school climate in public junior secondary school in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State? What is the level of students with performance in junior public secondary school in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State? Is there relationship between school climate and students academic performance in public junior secondary school in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State? The descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The population of the study comprises of students from the twelve (12) secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. A sample size of 184 students were randomly selected from Three (3) secondary schools out of the twelve (12) secondary schools under Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Questionnaire was the instrument used to elicit information from the respondents. The data collated were analysed using frequency count, percentages, mean and standard deviation while the hypothesis was tested using Anova. The findings from the study revealed that the predominant school climate in the study area was characterized by the importance of well-enforced rules and regulations in mitigating student indicipline. This perfection is congruent with the existing literature emphasizing the role of discipline in maintaining a conductive learning environment. Also the level of academic performance of students in the junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area was encouraging. A majority of students achieved five credits, including core subjects like Mathematics and English. These results reflect the potential influence of quality education and teaching resource on academic performance.The data indicate that the students in these schools are making commendable progress in their educational pursuits. In the study, it was also revealed there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between school climate and students academic performance.

Abstract
This study assessed the effect of supervision on teachers’ job performance in public secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. Data was collected from one hundred and sixteen (116) respondents randomly selected from four secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using simple percentage and frequency count. The findings from the study include that there is an effects of supervision on teachers’ job performance in public secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is high level of teachers’ job performance in public secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. Some of the recommendations made include that government should recruit more trained and qualified classroom supervisors to be able to meet the demands of classroom supervision, and be enough to cater for the professional needs of teachers in the state. It was also recommended that workshops and seminars should be organized regularly for teachers on needs of supervision and what are expected of them in such exercise.

This study dealt on the evaluation of the implementationof theUniversal Basic Education (UBE) programme in public junior secondaryschools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Toachievethe purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. Data was collected from two hundred and twenty two (222) teachersrandomly selected from five (5) public junior secondary schools inOviaNorth East Local Government Area of Edo State. The descriptivesurveyresearch design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was doneusing mean score and standard deviation. The findings from the study include that instructional materialsforthe effective implementation of UBE Programme are not adequatelyavailable in UBE Junior secondary schools in Ovia North East LocalGovernment Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is inadequacyoffund for the effective implementation of UBE programme injuniorsecondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of EdoState. It was therefore recommended among others that capital grants allocationforuniversal Basic Education should be improved and increase bythegovernment and be supported with the individuals with the intensionofproviding sufficient funds for successful implementation of UBEprogramme.

LIBRARY INSTRUCTIONS AND SERVICES INNOVATION AS TOOLS FOR BOOSTING PATRONAGE OF LIBRARY E-RESOURCES IN ACADEMIC LIBRARY

This study assesses the library instructions and services innovation as tools for boosting patronage of library e-resources in academic library. Five research questions were raised to guide this study. The survey research design was adopted for this study; this is because the data was collected from a sample population with specific characteristics. The population of the study comprised 43,679 undergraduates from the University of Benin. Out of this population, 450 students were selected as the sample, representing those who completed and returned the questionnaire. The instrument used to collect data for the study was a 15-item self-structured questionnaire. The instrument for the data collection was personally administered by the researcher to the respondents. The findings of this study concluded that library instruction and innovative services play a significant role in enhancing students’ engagement with e-resources, but the impact is moderate. Students demonstrate awareness and willingness to use digital resources;
however, infrastructural and technical challenges limit full utilization. The study recommends that academic libraries should organize more frequent and structured library instruction sessions to improve students’ ability to locate, access, and use e-resources effectively. The study also recommends that universities should improve infrastructural and technical support, including reliable internet connectivity, sufficient computer access, and user assistance services.

SECURITY CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIC MEASURES IN COMBATING THEFT FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY IN JOHN HARRIS LIBRARY, UNIVERSITY OF BENIN.

Abstract
This study investigates the security challenges affecting the John Harris Library, University of Benin, and examines the strategic measures adopted to combat theft for improved service delivery. Library theft manifesting in the unauthorized removal, concealment, or mutilation of information resources continues to undermine the availability, preservation, and accessibility of library materials. The study adopts a descriptive survey research design, utilizing structured questionnaires administered to library staff and registered users to obtain relevant data. A sample size of 384 respondents was determined using Cochran’s (1977) formula for infinite populations. Data collected were coded and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), with descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages, and mean scores used to present the findings. The results reveal that major security challenges in the library include inadequate surveillance systems, insufficient security personnel, weak enforcement of library regulations, and users’ low awareness of library ethics. The findings also indicate that strategic measures such as the installation of electronic security devices, increased staff monitoring, user education on proper library conduct, and improved access control significantly contribute to reducing theft and enhancing service delivery. The study concludes that a comprehensive and integrated security approach is essential for safeguarding library resources and ensuring efficient information service delivery. It recommends the adoption of modern security technologies, continuous staff training, regular security evaluations, and stronger institutional policies to foster a secure and service-oriented library environment.

The study investigated the role of school library in enhancing the academic achievement among students in public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of 100 students which were randomly selected from the 20 schools in the local government. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using frequency count and percentages. The findings from the study include that there is high level of library patronage among students in public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that school library plays a significant role in enhancing the academic achievement among students in public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that the government should ensure adequate funding for school libraries to acquire relevant books, digital resources, and educational materials that align with the curriculum and cater to diverse learning needs among students.

The study was carried out to investigate the roles of the school library on the academic achievement of public senior secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The design of the study is descriptive while the population comprised of students of SS1 and SS2 in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size for the study was 120
respondents while a researcher self-developed questionnaire formed the instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by the project supervisor. A structured questionnaire titled “The Roles of the School Library on the Academic Achievement of the Secondary School Student” was used for collection of data from respondents. The data was analyzed using
frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation. Findings from the study reveal that public senior secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State recognize library's significance in their academic endeavors; act as catalyst for academic success, play an instrumental role in shaping their students' academic habits, and success with the majority
actively leveraging its resources to enhance their academic performance. Based on these, the researcher recommends that there should be continuous improvement and expansion of library resources, promote the awareness of library services among students, encourage collaborative learning among others

This study investigated the assessment of the attitude of secondary school students towards Economics in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of 200 students randomly selected from SS1 and SS2. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using mean score. Criterions mean score of 2.50 was used as selection criterion.The findings from the study include that teaching methods, mastery of subject matter, conducive learning environment and availability of resources all constitute factors influencing the attitude of students towards Economics. It was concluded that there is positive attitude of SS1 and SS2 students towards Economics in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. It was therefore recommended among others that since there is positive attitude of students towards the study of Economics, government should continue to ensure that the subject matter of Economics remain a top priority in order to sustain the interest of students.

This study focuses on the accountability of school fund usage by secondary school principals in ovia north east local government area of edo state. Five research questions were raised to guide the study. this study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 32 secondary school principals in Ovia North East local government area, of edostate. They were sampled using the random and purposive technique. The instrument used in the study was a questionnaire titled “Accountability of school fund usage by secondary principals in ovia north east local government”. Data obtained from the instrument were analyzed using frequency counts, mean, and standard deviation. Findings from the study revealed that that there is a significant difference in accountability of school fund between male and female principals, that there is a significant difference in accountability of school fund between Christian and Non-Christian principals, that there is a significant difference in accountability of school fund between old and young principals and that there is a significant difference in accountability of school fund between old and young principals in Ovia North East local Government Area of Edo State. Recommendations were made based on
the findings of the study.
