Year of Publication
Publication Type
Abstract
This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the key architectural and construction features of green buildings and Benin traditional buildings, with a focus on their adaptability and resilience to local climate conditions and environmental factors. The research will first examine the general characteristics of green buildings and Benin traditional buildings, including their underlying design principles, material selection, and construction techniques. This will involve a review of the existing literature on the subject, as well as an assessment of the environmental performance and sustainability aspects of each building type. The study will further look into the adaptability and resilience of these building features, such as energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management, compare to the traditional building practices and techniques employed in Benin. The role of cultural influences, traditional knowledge, and innovative sustainable solutions in enhancing the adaptability and resilience of these buildings will also be explored. Furthermore, the research will investigate the potential for integrating green building strategies with Benin traditional building practices to create more climate-responsive and environmental-friendly structures. This will involve identifying the challenges and opportunities in bridging the gap between modern green building approaches and traditional construction methods. The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of the comparative advantages and limitations of green buildings and Benin traditional buildings in addressing local environmental conditions and climate change adaptation. The insights gained can inform policymakers, architects, and construction professional in developing more sustainable and resilient building practices that combine the best of both approaches.

Abstract
This study examined sustainable food consumption as correlates of civil servant healthy living in Ekiti State. Seven (7) research questions were raised while five null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The correlational survey research design was employed for this study. The population for the study comprised of 3,592,000 civil servants in Ekiti State. A sample size of 399 civil servant from the three senatorial districts in Ekiti State were selected to participates in the study, using a multistage sampling technique. The questionnaire titled “Sustainable food consumption and Healthy Living among Civil Servant Questionnaire” (SEHLCSQ) was developed to elicit information from the respondents. The instrument contained 45 items with a 4- point rating scale made up of four response options of Strongly Agree (SA)=(4), Agree (A)=(3), Disagree (D)=(2) and Strongly Disagree (SD)=(1). The instrument was subjected to content and face validity by the researcher’s supervisor and one expert in the department of Vocational and Technical Education and an expert in Psychometrics. A reliability of 0.79 was obtained meaning instrument was high in terms of internal consistency. The researcher directly administered SEHLCSQ to the respondents with the aid of six research assistants. The data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and independent samples t-test. The null hypothesis 1 was tested using Pearson’s Product- Moment Correlation (PPMC), the null hypotheses 2–4 was tested using independent t-test statistics, while null hypothesis 5 was tested using one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).

Financial development indicators utilized in the study includes broad money supply and credit to private sector while insurance sector penetration rate was the dependent variable. We estimated a regression model and the result reveals that broad money supply has negative and insignificant impact on insurance penetration in Nigeria while credit to private sector was positively and significantly related to insurance penetration. The study recommends that regulatory authorities charged with the sole responsibility of ensuring the macroeconomic stability of Nigeria should ensure that more credit should be extended to the private sector in other to further deepen insurance penetration rate in Nigeria. Also, the negative and insignificant effect of broad money supply on insurance penetration in Nigeria calls for the strict reevaluation of the present monetary policy tools as regard the volume of money in circulation to ensure that it contribute significantly to insurance penetration rate in Nigeria

Abstract
Three soil tests were gathered from the Ogheghe people group, Benin City, Edo state. The examples were exposed to a few research facility tests which included; Dampness content assurance, Atterberg limit (fluid breaking point and plastic cutoff), Molecule size examination, Explicit gravity, Compaction test, and California bearing proportion tests. As far as possible pliancy records are 53.87%, 32.59%, 35.13%, 14.81%, and 36.86%, 15.92% separately. The most extreme dry thickness and ideal dampness content qualities are 1.60g/cm3, 1.65g/cm3, 1.74g/cm3 and 14.2%, 11.4%, and 13.4% separately. Results acquired were
contrasted and the writing and the Government Service of Works and Lodging (FMWH) necessities, demonstrating these dirts are really great for filling and subgrade in street development. Abstract

This study accessed the microbial analysis of melon seeds purchased from different vendors in New Benin market, Ogida market, Oba market and Uselu market in Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria. Samples were collected in sterile plastic containers and taken to the laboratory for microbiological assessment following standard procedures. The microbiological assessment was carried out using cultural techniques. Identification of the microbial isolates was done using biochemical methods, phenotypic virulence properties were evaluated for the isolates and antimicrobial sensitivity was carried out using agar well diffusion method. The results showed that the bacterial counts ranged from 1.96±0.67 to 3.45±1.15x10 5 CFU/g. The total coliform counts ranged from 4.73±0.67 to 9.66±0.67 x10 3 CFU/g. The fungal counts ranged from 1.00±0.00 to 6.00±0.58x10 3 CFU/g. The bacterial isolated from the melon seed samples were Bacillus sp, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas sp and Staphylococcus aureus. The fungal isolates identified were Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus sp, Penicillium chrysogenum, Fusarium sp and Trichoderma sp respectively. The antibacterial susceptibility testing showed that all isolates were susceptible to ciprofloxacin, erythromycin and levofloxacin but were also resistant to pefloxacin, gentamycin, ampiclox, zinnacef, amoxicillin and rocephin. It was also evident that all isolates were found to have an MAR index greater than 0.2 which means that the isolates were all pathogens of public health importance. The study therefore suggests regular surveillance and checks to monitor local vended foods on sale to ensure effective food safety
