Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of online counselling in addressing anxiety disorders among undergraduate students at the University of Benin, Nigeria. It was anchored on Cognitive Behavioural Theory, Self-Determination Theory, and the Technology Acceptance Model, which together explain the therapeutic, motivational, and technological dimensions of online counselling. The study adopted an ex post facto research design, and a sample of 394 undergraduates was drawn through proportionate stratified sampling. Data were collected using the Online Counselling Feedback Questionnaire (OCFQ) and analysed using Pearson’s product–moment correlation and Fisher’s Z tests at the 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between engagement in online counselling and reduction in anxiety symptoms (r = .252, p < .001), indicating that students who participated in online counselling reported lower levels of worry and tension. Further analysis showed a significant difference based on sex, with male students showing a stronger relationship (r = .376) than female students (r = .168). However, age did not significantly moderate the counselling–anxiety relationship. These findings suggest that online counselling is an effective and accessible tool for mitigating anxiety among university students. The study concludes that while online counselling holds strong potential to enhance student mental health, sex-responsive engagement strategies are essential to ensure equitable benefits. It is recommended that universities integrate structured online counselling systems, train counsellors in digital modalities, and promote awareness of technology-based mental health services within higher education institutions in Nigeria

Abstract
This study examined the perception of education students at the University of Benin regarding the usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in their academic activities. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design to gather data from 400 undergraduate students in the Faculty of Education during the 2024/2025 academic session. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Perception of Education Students on the Usage of Artificial Intelligence Questionnaire (PESUAIQ), validated by experts and tested for reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation. The study found that students view AI positively and find it helpful for research, writing, presentations, and accessing information. However, they worry about overdependence, ethical issues, and reduced critical thinking. Poor internet, limited devices, and low digital literacy also affect effective use. Despite this, students remain optimistic about AI’s impact on learning. The study recommends improving digital infrastructure, teaching AI literacy, and creating clear guidelines to support responsible and effective AI use in education

Abstract
Undergraduate students have different perceptions of the use of experiments in the teaching of cell biology. This study aimed to identify some of the student's opinions about the use of the us of experiments in the teaching of cell biology. A descriptive survey research design was utilized and the study was guided by seven research questions. The research was conducted at the University of Benin in Edo state, Nigeria. A total of 150 undergraduate students were selected from three departments at the University of Benin. Plant Biology and Biotechnology (50 students), Animal and Environmental Biology (50 students), and Curriculum and Instructional Technology (50 students). The sampling technique employed was simple random sampling. The data were collected with a questionnaire instrument and analyzed using simple percentages and means. The findings indicated that students expressed working with live cells and observing their behavior was enjoyable. The results also show that there are available materials in the experiment of bacterial cell-like cell culture dishes, Petri dishes, pipettes, etc. Also, results show that undergraduate cell biology students face challenges such as teaching methods used by the lecturer and lack of learning aids. Additionally, some factors influence students' perceptions such as the amount of time required to complete the experiment, the level of difficulty of the experiment, etc. In conclusion, it is therefore recommended that teachers should adapt their teaching methods, increase their knowledge of conducting experiments, allocate suf icient time, and provide adequate learning aids. Additionally, researchers recommend that teachers ensure proper preparation and caution before conducting experiments

Abstract
Vancomycin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) is a strain of S. aureus that has developed overtime due to the overuse ofvancomycin as an antibiotic for the treatment against S.aureus xinfections which have reduced the available options of managing the pathogen that causes a lot of infections including UTIs. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) from urine samples of selected students in the University of Benin, Edo State. A cross-sectional descriptive design was used, and sixty urine samples were collected and analyzed using standard microbiological andbiochemical methods to isolate and identify vancomycin-resistant S.aureus(VRSA) and assess their antibiotic susceptibility patterns. The results revealed that 23.3% of samples showed leukocytes, while Staphylococcus aureus (33%) was the most predominant isolate, followed by Escherichia coli (21%) and Pseudomonas spp. (11%). The overall VRSA prevalence was 6.7%, with a higher rate among females (5.0%) than males (1.7%). The isolates exhibited high resistance to β-lactam antibiotics, while most remained susceptible to ofloxacin and ceftriaxone. The findings emphasize a significant occurrence of antimicrobial resistance particularly vancomycin-resistant S. aureus, among university students. It concludes that improved hygiene practices, rational antimicrobial use, and continuous antimicrobial surveillance are vital to controlling the spread of resistant strains in the university communities.
