Abstract
This study examines the relationship between school facilities and student academic achievement in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government. School facilities, including libraries, classroom sizes, environmental conditions, and school locations, play
a crucial role in shaping students' learning experiences and academic performance. Research has shown that well-maintained and adequately equipped school facilities enhance student engagement, attendance, and motivation, while poor infrastructure may
lead to health issues, absenteeism, and lower academic outcomes. This study aims to investigate how variations in school facility quality impact student achievement and provide insights into effective strategies for improving the learning environment. Findings from this research will be valuable to students, teachers, school administrators, policymakers, and researchers in enhancing educational infrastructure and promoting equitable academic success. This study employs a descriptive survey research design to examine the relationship between school facilities and student academic achievement in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State. A quantitative approach is utilized, with data collected through a structured questionnaire administered to eight randomly selected public secondary schools, including their principals and JSS3 students. The questionnaire, validated by experts in educational management, consists of biographical data and research-related items measured on a four-point Likert scale. Data analysis will be conducted using mean statistics, with a benchmark mean of 2.5 to determine findings. The study aims to provide empirical insights into the impact of school facilities on student learning outcomes. The findings of this study reveal that schools in Egor Local Government Area generally have adequate classrooms, laboratories, and libraries, which contribute to student learning. Students perform well in internal and external examinations; however, teachers do not always employ diverse teaching methods to enhance understanding. Smaller class sizes improve student concentration, engagement, and academic performance, while overcrowded classrooms hinder participation and comprehension. Additionally, students in smaller classes receive more individualized attention and detailed feedback. Regular use of the school library positively impacts academic success, as access to textbooks and study materials enhances learning outcomes. These findings highlight the significance of well-equipped school facilities in fostering student achievement.

The samplesizecomprises of 100 students of the library and information science department intheUniversity of Benin. Simple random sampling technique was used. The instrument fordata collection was the questionnaire developed by the researcher, and validatedbytheresearcher's supervisor. The study was able to determine the dif erent types of mobileInternet devices used by undergraduate students, the level at which they use these devices(very often). It was also able to discover that the level of under- utilization of libraryservices is very high as students prefer the use of mobile Internet devices to the utilizationof library services. The university library should discover and develop on platforms that can be used to provide library services to undergraduate students via mobile Internet devices so that the students preference of mobile Internet devices will be to the library'sadvantage and not otherwise. Mobile applications can be invented for the benefit of theuniversity user community especially undergraduate students in the University of Benin. Undergraduate students should be ensured to be given adequate library user orientationas part of their 100 level orientation program so that they understand completelythevalue of library services utilization. Lecturers should devise means to enforce ontheirstudents compulsory and frequent library visits for academic work. This will prompt thenever-library users to visit the library and most of them will get to enjoy utilizingthelibrary services, this will in turn reduce mobile Internet device use. The university library should improve on the provision of library services to meet theinformation needs of its users

THE IMPACTS OF BROKEN HOMES ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE A CASE STUDY OF THE STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN UGBOWO CAMPUS, BENIN CITY, EDO STATE, NIGERIA

Year of Publication

Abstract
The fundamental social unit is the family. This is the society's most significant institution. In addition to being the place where a family lives, a "home" also refers to the intangible elements that unite the family. The mother, father, and children are kept together by the unfathomable love. A person's whole existence depends on their family; everything about them, including their upbringing, disposition, accomplishments, honor, and dignity, is centered around their family structure. The institution of the family includes sex, marriage, parenthood, and kinship, all of which are fundamental to society since they bring in new members, without whom it would cease to exist. Marriage, which is generally seen as a union between a man and a woman, is how the institution of the family came to be (Olayiwola 2005, pp. 67). The family's social role is to bear children and provide for them, which includes educating its members. It is therefore a way to supply the "social capital" that society requires. Nonetheless, it has been seen throughout time that the reasons behind fractured homes continue to exist in our society as a result of the family institution's inability to fulfill its duties. "Broken Home" and marital instability are the results of ineffectively carrying out marital tasks and responsibilities.
