SURVIVAL, NEGATIVE GEOTAXIS AND STRESS RESPONSES IN DROSOPHILA MELANOGASTER EXPOSED TO LARSOR SEASONING

Abstract
This study investigates the toxicological and behavioral impacts of larsor seasoning—a representative artificial food additive—on drosophila melanogaster, serving as a model organism to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying seasoning-induced stress. Natural seasonings, derived from herbs and spices, offer beneficial bioactive compounds; however, the rising consumption of artificially formulated seasonings has raised concerns over potential adverse health effects due to synthetic additives and high sodium content. In this study, 2–3-weeks-old male and female drosophila melanogaster were exposed to varying concentrations of larsor seasoning incorporated into a standardized cornmeal-agar diet. The experimental design included comprehensive assessments of survival rates, negative geotactic behavior (a measure of neuromuscular function), and the expression levels of key stress-related genes, including KEAP1, GSTD1, PHGPx, and Cap’n’collar (CncC). Survival test was conducted over a two-week period and negative geotaxis tests after exposure to lasor seasoning for seven (7) days. Gene expression analyses were performed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and gel electrophoresis. Results indicated an increase in mortality and significant impairments in climbing ability among flies exposed to higher concentrations of larsor seasoning. Gene expression data revealed a notable upregulation of KEAP1, suggesting an elevated oxidative stress response, alongside a significant suppression of GSTD1, PHGPx, and CncC, which implies a compromised detoxification and cellular defense mechanism.

Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between physical activity, demographic factors, environmental factors, and academic performance of student athletes in the University of Benin. The study was undertaken in response to concerns about how varying levels of physical activity, personal characteristics, and environmental conditions influence the academic outcomes of student athletes. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 268 student athletes in the University of Benin, from which a sample size of 137 respondents was selected using appropriate sampling techniques. Data were collected using a structured and validated questionnaire designed to elicit information on physical activity participation, demographic variables, environmental factors, and academic performance. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages, and mean scores, while inferential statistics were employed to test the stated hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that physical activity has a significant relationship with the academic performance of student athletes. The study also showed that demographic factors such as age, level of study, and gender, as well as environmental factors including availability of sports facilities and supportive learning environments, significantly influenced academic performance. Based on the findings, the study recommended that the university should provide supportive sporting and academic environments and encourage balanced physical activity participation to enhance the academic performance and overall development of student athletes.

Abstract
Today, audit efficiency is a major concern, especially in Nigeria's fast-changing financial scene. Audit efficiency is all about how well auditors can do their job, making sure financial reports are accurate and finished on time. Some key signs of audit efficiency include how long audits take, time spent on specific tasks, and any drop in overall audit time thanks to tools like ComputerAssisted Audit Techniques (CAATs). Also, looking at how much automated tools are used and how they cut down on process times gives a clearer picture of how audits are improving.

Abstract
This research study investigated the role of Christianity in curbing the menace of alcohol and drug abuse among university students; using University of Benin as a case study.During the period the research was carried out, the researcher brought about four research questions that was used to guide the study. There was a total of 80 University of Benin students used as respondents in this study. The survey research technique was used as the research method for this study and the researcher used table and percentage to collect and present data for this research study. The study was to investigate the role of Christianity in curbing the menace of alcohol and drug abuse among university students. Different techniques such as population of the study and sample and sampling techniques were used during this study. The questionnaire that was used to collect data for the study was the like type of question which was further divided into two sections, Section A which was designed to obtain personal information from the respondents, and Section B which comprised of items on the topic under investigation. The research instrument was reviewed and validated by the project supervisor and other experts in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City. The findings exposed the how bad students have gotten themselves involved in drugs abuse and consumption of alcohol and to stop this, different strategies were brought up as recommendations.

Abstract
Poultry products is one of the most consumed animal products worldwide. Poultry products such as meat and eggs is a rich source of protein, fats and minerals. Poultry feed refers to the feedstuff consumed by poultry birds. This study was aimed at isolating fungi from poultry feeds sold in stores in Benin City. Three (3) forms of poultry feeds (mash, starter and finisher) were sampled in five (5) stores in Benin City. The samples were collected aseptically using in sterile polyethylene bags with sterile spatula and labeled accordingly. Serial dilution was made using water as diluent. Enumeration and isolation of fungi was carried out using potato dextrose agar (PDA) and Aspergillus flavus and parasiticus agar (AFPA). The pour plate method was employed and were incubated at 28+2°C for 7 days. Temperature and relative humidity of poultry stores were recorded using ThermoPro model (TP49-W-2) thermometer and hygrometer. The total fungal count range was of 0.10x105 on potato dextrose agar froms

THE IMPACTS OF BROKEN HOMES ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE A CASE STUDY OF THE STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN UGBOWO CAMPUS, BENIN CITY, EDO STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract
The fundamental social unit is the family. This is the society's most significant institution. In addition to being the place where a family lives, a "home" also refers to the intangible elements that unite the family. The mother, father, and children are kept together by the unfathomable love. A person's whole existence depends on their family; everything about them, including their upbringing, disposition, accomplishments, honor, and dignity, is centered around their family structure. The institution of the family includes sex, marriage, parenthood, and kinship, all of which are fundamental to society since they bring in new members, without whom it would cease to exist. Marriage, which is generally seen as a union between a man and a woman, is how the institution of the family came to be (Olayiwola 2005, pp. 67). The family's social role is to bear children and provide for them, which includes educating its members. It is therefore a way to supply the "social capital" that society requires. Nonetheless, it has been seen throughout time that the reasons behind fractured homes continue to exist in our society as a result of the family institution's inability to fulfill its duties. "Broken Home" and marital instability are the results of ineffectively carrying out marital tasks and responsibilities.

Abstract
Stress occurs in various forms in every workplace. Stress has been defined by many in different ways. Olagunju (2018) defines stress as “a chronic complex emotional state with apprehension and is characteristic of various nervous and mental disorders”. According to Topper (2010) stress is a person‘s psychological and physiological response to the perception of demand and challenge. Hence, Stress is a condition of physical and psychological mental disorder which occurs in a situation of pressure, when resources are unable to fulfill the demand of an individual (Syed, 2013). Work-related stress is increasingly becoming a source of concern among organizations and employees around the globe (Gyllensten& Palmer, 2005; Khurshid, Butt & Malik, 2011) as productivity is basic to organizational effectiveness. Organizational performance refers to those attitudes' that have been assessed or measured as to their contribution to organizational goals (Cook &Hunsaker, 2001). High productivity can stimulate improvement and motivate employees (Prokopenko, 2018).
