Abstract
Public institutions are experiencing environments that are not only changing rapidly, but in particular, are increasingly subject to sudden irregularities Furthermore, the administrative work of various public institutions is print-based. Various documents are kept in the form of records. These records provide information on the past and present data of the students. The public institutions cannot perform administrative duties with accurate, timely, sufficient and relevant information. The deficiencies associated with storage, preservation and retrieval process are very cumbersome. Consequently, alternative methods provided by
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is imperative. Premised on this observation, the objectives of this study were to understand how the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has impacted the management of students’ data creation, storage and retrieval in the University of Benin, and to comprehend the factors that have constrained the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the management of students’ data. The survey research design was adopted in carrying out the study with administered questionnaires, and chi-square was used to analyze the data
gotten from the field. From this, the researcher deduced that there is a positive relationship between the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and efficient management of students’ data. The university administrators should ensure the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the management of students’ data and measures should be put in place for the training of staff and the availability of computer devices in order to ensure efficiency in the management of students’ data.

Data were obtained from both primary and secondary sources, including structured interviews and government publications. The study adopts a descriptive and qualitative approach, analyzing respondents’ perspectives across two main categories — civil servants and non-civil servants — to assess the practical implications of e-governance initiatives. Findings revealed that the integration of e- governance tools, such as the EdoBEST education reform platform, online payment systems, and digital civil service management processes, has enhanced efficiency and accessibility in public service delivery. However, challenges such as poor internet infrastructure, limited digital literacy, and policy inconsistency still affect optimal implementation. The study recommends among others that government should improve internet connectivity and upgrade digital infrastructure, provide staff with continuous ICT training, as well as promote public awareness and inclusiveness in strengthening e-service delivery.

EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF MONETARY POLICY ON EMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA

Year of Publication
Publication Type
Abstract
The research examined how monetary policy impacts employment in Nigeria. It used employment as the dependent variable and broad money supply (M2), monetary policy rate (MPR), and inflation rate (INF) as the independent variables. The data spanned from 1991 to 2022. The methods of data analysis employed were the Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL), unit root test and co-integration test. The result indicates a long-term relationship among the variables. Specifically, the study found that money supply has a positive and significant impact on employment in the long run, satisfying the a priori expectation. Inflation was found to have both negative short-run and weak positive long-run effects on employment, indicating that high inflation undermines job creation in the short term but may exert mild stimulatory effects over time. Conversely, the monetary policy rate showed no significant effect on employment in both the short and long run, suggesting thatinterest rate adjustments alone do not effectively influence employment outcomes in Nigeria. Based on these findings, the study recommends that policymakers should strengthen monetary expansion policies that increase money supply while ensuring that such measures are complemented by structural reforms to enhance credit access for productive sectors. Inflation management should be prioritized through a balanced mix of monetary and fiscal strategies to reduce its adverse short-run effects on job creation. Additionally, interest rate policies should be complemented with targeted employment and investment programs to improve the responsiveness of the labor market to monetary interventions. EFFECTS OF CONFLICT ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN, IMPLICATIONS FOR SOCIAL WORK

Year of Publication
Publication Type
Abstract
This study investigates the effects of conflict on the academic performance of students at the University of Benin and explores the implications for social work interventions. Drawing on the Social-Ecological Model, the research examines how academic, personal, and social conflicts ranging from grading disputes and interpersonal tensions to financial stress impact students’ academic outcomes and mental well-being. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study analyzes students’ coping mechanisms, evaluates the effectiveness of existing conflict resolution structures within the university, and identifies gaps in institutional support. Findings reveal that unresolved conflicts contribute to decreased academic motivation, heightened anxiety, and lower performance metrics. While some students employ adaptive coping strategies, many rely on avoidance or peer support, which may not yield sustainable academic success. The study highlights the limited accessibility and perceived ineffectiveness of current university conflict resolution mechanisms. It underscores the critical role of social workers in educational settings, advocating for their integration into university systems to provide counseling, mediation, and psycho-social support. The research concludes with practical recommendations for social work-led interventions aimed at fostering a more supportive and resilient academic environment.

Questionnaires were administered to the sampled respondents as the instrument for data collection but three hundred and eighty three (383)questionnaires were retrieved. The questionnaires were framed to reflect every aspect of the research question. Data collected from the questionnaire wasanalyzed using descriptive statistics. Frequency distribution and percentage analysis was used to analyze the research question while an inferential statistics in terms of chi-squared (x2) was used to test the hypotheses raised. The findings of the study shows that the ENDSARS movement is driven by deep discontentment and systemic problems perceived by Nigerian citizens. Surveysshow that Nigerians report very low levels of trust in the police and that most of them have paid or have been asked to a bribe to police. Abstract
This study examines the impact of insecurity on national unity in Nigeria with specific focus on the phenomenon of jungle justice in Esan North-East. The research investigates how the rising cases of mob action reflect citizen’s loss of confidence in the state’s ability to ensure security and justice. Findings reveal that jungle justice emerges largely from weak law enforcement
