Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the school climate as a correlate of students’ academic performance. To guide the study, seven research questions were raised, out of which six were hypothesized and tested at 0.05 level of significance.
The descriptive survey research design was adopted in this study. The population of this study was made up of 13,051 public senior secondary school students. The sample size of 300 was selected using the multi-stage sampling procedure (i.e. involving purposive and simple random sampling). The purposive sampling technique was used to select ten (10) public secondary schools in the locality, as the entire public secondary schools were too large for the study. The simple random sampling technique was used to choose the sample from the available population. A total of ten public secondary schools was selected at random with 30 students representing each school, the technique is relevant because there will be a chance of equal selection and representation of the schools involved; these constituted the sample size of the study. A research instrument was used, titled: “School Climate as a Correlate of Students Academic Performance Questionnaire” (SCSAPQ). The instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Educational Management. The cronbach alpha statistics was used to establish the reliability of the instrument and the r-value of 0.76 was obtained. Data were analysed using descriptives (frequency counts, percentages, means, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation, Analysis of Co-variance (ANCOVA), and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA)).
The findings revealed that school climate does not negatively affect students academic performance; as it can be said they had a good/fairly good performance; there was no significant relationship between school climate and students academic performance in Oredo LGA; there was no significant difference between school climate and students academic performance based on age; there was no significant difference between school climate and students academic performance based on sex; there was no significant difference between school climate and students academic performance based on location; there was no significant difference between school climate and students academic performance based on school type; and there was no significant difference between school climate and students academic performance based on class size. It was concluded that school climate does not negatively affect students academic performance as no significant relationship existed between the two variables as well as other intervening variables as age, sex, location, school type and class size. It was chiefly recommended that in promoting students performance, reliance should not solely be on the school climate, but other factors should be considered such as students’ motivational beliefs and
interest.

Abstract
Companies must carry out various businesses, one of which is by supervising each production process in order to produce quality products. Quality control is required within a company to minimize operational costs in products. Good quality control will assist in the fluency of the production process, so that the production activity will reach its target. Companies will find means to implement a quality control system that is capable and reliable. One of the methods is using Statistical Process Control (SPC). The case studied in this project was the bottled palm wine product in NIFOR palm wine bottling unit. This research is centered on the quality of nifor bottled palm wine due to breakages during pasteurization. The SPC used is the Control chart (p chart). Based on the analysis of control chart, it is indicated that the process is in control. This can be seen in the control charts where there is the absence of outliers. In the month of January, February, March and April, there are zero out of bounds. Thus the Enterprise can take to maintain and monitor current processes by regular quality checks and statistical monitoring to ensure that the process remains in control.

INTERGROUP RELATIONS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE POST COLONIAL UKWUANI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, DELTA STATE

Year of Publication

Abstract
This study examines the complex dynamics of intergroup relations and their impact on the socio-economic and political development of the Ukwuani Local Government Area (LGA) in Delta State, Nigeria, throughout the post-colonial era. Focusing specifically on the interactions between the Ukwuani-speaking majority and various non-indigenous settler groups (including Igbos, Urhobos, and others), the research employs a historical-analytical approach, drawing upon archival records, key informant interviews, and ethnographic data.
The findings reveal that the creation and subsequent administrative evolution of the LGA were profoundly influenced by a cyclical tension between ethnic solidarity (Ukwuani nativism) and the economic necessity of pluralism. Intergroup relations are characterized by periods of collaborative coexistence, particularly in market activities and religious life, interspersed with episodes of competition and conflict, primarily over land tenure, resource allocation, and political office. The abstract argues that while the presence of diverse groups has historically spurred commercial growth and infrastructural development—evidenced by the growth of major towns like Obiaruku and Abbi —it has also fostered a political culture dominated by indigene-settler identity politics, which often stalls policy implementation and exacerbates inequality in the distribution of development projects.
The work concludes that the trajectory of post-colonial development in Ukwuani LGA is not simply a function of federal or state policy, but is a direct reflection of how successfully—or unsuccessfully—local leaders have managed the inherent friction between promoting a unified 'Ukwuani' identity and harnessing the productive capacity of its multi-ethnic populace. It recommends a shift toward an inclusive, rights-based citizenship model at the local level to unlock sustainable and equitable development.
