Abstract
The objective of this experiment was to assess blood pressure and glucose levelsasrisk factors for metabolic syndrome (MetS) among physiology students at theUniversity of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo, Nigeria. The study involved 50students, comprising 20 males and 30 females, aged 16 to 26 years. All participantsvoluntarily completed questionnaires and provided written informedconsentbefore the examination. They were required to fast for at least 12 hours beforethetests. Blood pressure was measured using an automated sphygmomanometer, andfasting blood glucose levels were assessed with a glucometer, followingstandardprotocols. Data analysis was performed using GraphPad Prismstatistical packageversion 8.1, with descriptive statistics presented as percentages. Asignificancelevel of P<0.05 was applied. The average age of the participants was 21.5years.Results showed that 86% of the students had normal glucose levels, while14% fell within the MetS range. For systolic blood pressure, 90%were withinthenormal range, and 10% were within the MetS range. Regarding diastolicbloodpressure, 96% were in the normal range, with 4% in the MetSrange. Thecorrelation between blood pressure levels and a family history of diabetessuggested a 1.047 risk of MetS, but this was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Other family histories, such as hypertension and MetS, also showed no significantassociation (P>0.05), and there was no increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome. In conclusion, this study indicated that some physiology students at UNIBEN are at risk of developing MetS based on their blood pressure, glucoselevels, and family history. Therefore, these students should take proactive steps to maintain good health

COMPARATIVE EFFECTS OF OIL AND NON-OIL EXPORTS IN ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA

Year of Publication
Publication Type
Abstract
This study investigates the comparative effects of oil and non-oil exports on economic growth in Nigeria from 1990 to 2022. Using regression analysis, the research examines how changes in investment, oil exports, non-oil exports, and exchange rates impact Real Gross Domestic Product (RGDP). The findings reveal that non-oil exports significantly and positively influence economic growth, emphasizing the necessity of diversifying Nigeria's export base. Conversely, oil exports show a negative but statistically insignificant effect on RGDP, indicating limited impact despite the sector's economic prominence. Additionally, exchange rate depreciations positively affect economic growth by enhancing export competitiveness. However, investment changes do not exhibit a statistically significant effect on RGDP within the model. The study underscores the importance of policies aimed at export diversification, competitive exchange rate management, and investment attraction to foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Nigeria. The results suggest that reducing dependence on oil revenues and promoting non-oil sectors are critical for economic resilience and long term development.

Abstract
The broad objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between board diversity and corporate tax aggressiveness in Nigeria. The longitudinal research design was used in investigating the extent of tax aggressive practices of the oil and gas companies. This was appropriate for this study because it revealed the relationship among variables in the same group of individuals over an extended period of time so as to establish more robust results. The secondary source of data was used and data were sourced from the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) as at 31st December, 2022 for various years. The study covered a time frame of twelve (12) years from 2011 to 2022. The Panel Least Squares (PLS) estimation technique was adopted for analysis purpose. This was carried out with the aid of the E-views (10.0) software and Excel package. Findings obtained revealed that board independence (BIND) and board ethnic diversity (ETD) have positive and significant relationship with effective tax rate (ETR), board gender diversity has a negative and significant relationship with ETR while board national diversity (NAD), board meeting (BMEET), firm age (FAGE), and firm size (FSIZE) have no significant relationship with ETR. The study concludes that only BIND, GEND, and ETD are good predictors of corporate tax aggressiveness in Nigeria. This study thus recommends that the composition of the board should comprise more non-executive and independence directors, qualified and skillful female directors, and more foreign directors so as to enable the board to perform its supervisory and monitoring roles as expected. This study also recommends that further empirical studies should be conducted using other sectors such as education, service as well as information and communication technology (ICT)

PRINCIPAL LEADERSHIP STYLES AND TEACHERS’ JOB SATISFACTION IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Year of Publication
Publication Type
Abstract
Education has been seen as the primary tenet of both social and economic advancement. Globally, the educational landscape is continuously evolving, reforming, and changing. The education of the future generation takes place in vital institutions, and school administrators have a great deal of responsibility for these establishments. Parental excellence in their children's education is one of their main priorities. Indeed, parents are prepared to shell out cash for their kids' optimal education—paying for tuition, purchasing reference materials, and using computers and the internet for educational purposes (Ibrahim et al., 2017). The standard of leadership required to oversee and run the schools in order to produce a quality generation is extremely high (Diaz, 2018). A school's ability to advance is frequently correlated with its administrators, and the leadership of the teaching and learning environment is crucial to student learning.
