Abstract
The study was undertaken to assess the challenges facing internally displaced women in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population and sample size of the study was made up of 112 internally displaced women
camped in Uhogua Centre for Missions IDP camp in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State. The instrument for the study was a questionnaire. Simple percentage method of data analysis used in analyzing the data gotten from the respondents. The findings in the study revealed that Internally displaced women face challenges such as quality of labour force is reduced, internally displacement has multiple effects on the health of the population such as outbreak of communicable diseases, strategies such as raising national awareness, creating a legal framework for upholding the rights of internally displacement, preventing all causes of displacement, ensuring active participation of internally displaced and implementing and reviewing national policy on internal displacement, Agencies like NEMA, International organizations, communities and government have all been effective on the strategies in addressing internal displacement in the society, agencies in charge of internal displacement are faced with corruption, lack of
appropriate legal and policy framework on addressing the affairs of internally displaced women.

ASSESSMENT OF THE PRIVATE COST OF ADULT LEARNING; USING PIONEER AND PANACEA LITERACY CENTERS, AS A CASE STUDY.

Abstract
This study examined private cost of adult learning, using Pioneer and Panacea adult literacy centres as a case study. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, Four research questions were raised and answered while, one 1 hypothesis was tested at a 0.05 level of significance. The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the Study consists of 78 adult learners enrolled in Pioneer and Panacea literacy centers. Using, a census sampling due to the small population size. The study adopted the questionnaire as instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated through experts’ judgment approach and was tested for reliability through the Cronbach’s alpha method. After computing, the data collected was analyzed using the Cronbach’s alpha method, and thus, a Cronbach’s alpha co- efficient of 0.70 were obtained. The data collected in the study was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics which involved; the use of frequency count, simple percentages, means score and standard deviation.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine strategies for improving the quality of teaching in private secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, five research questions were raised and answered. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of this study comprise of two thousand, four hundred and twenty eight (1428) private school students and six hundred and forty one (641) teachers in Oredo local government Area of Edo State while a total of one hundred and forty three (143) private school students and sixty four (64) teachers made up the sample for the study. Data for the study was collected with the use of a self-constructed questionnaire. The face and content validity were ascertained in order to determine the validity of the instrument. A test-retest reliability
method was used to ascertain the reliability of the research instrument. The researcher made use of frequency count, simple percentage, mean score analyses and standard deviation to analyse the collected data. Findings from the study revealed that the competence level of teachers in private secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State is low, the available
resources for teaching in private schools in Oredo local government area include chalkboards, chalks, picture, charts, television, computer instructor, music instructor, radio, public address system, flash card, computer set, library, computer room, physics
laboratory, biology laboratory, agriculture laboratory and Liberian, factors hindering qualitative teaching include lack of requisite qualification, lack of opportunity for retraining, no cooperation between teachers and school administrators and that lack of
enthusiasm among teachers and that for teaching to be improved, school administrators should exhibit good leadership, training programmes should be organized for teachers regularly, teachers should be encouraged to adopt student-centered teaching methods, instructional materials should be made available

THE ROLE OF ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMMES IN POVERTY ALLEVIATION IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

Abstract
This study investigates the role of adult education programmes in poverty alleviation in Egor local government area of Edo state. Four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study. A sample size of 200 adult learners were used for the study using a multi-stage sampling procedure. Four communities was selected out of 16 communities in Egor local government area, and 50 respondents was selected from each of the four (4) communities using accidental sampling technique. The questionnaire was designed and validated by experts in the department of Adult and Non-formal Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques such as frequency count, simple percentage and mean score analysis. Findings of the study revealed that vocational education, women education, Adult literacy Education, and health Education are the Adult Education Programmes in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Moreso, Adult Education Programmes have economically empowered people in Egor Local Government Area by increasing income generation of people, facilitate access to microfinance or small business loans, improve their financial management skills, and helped participants identify and capitalize on market opportunities. Adult Education Programmes have also socially empowered people in Egor Local Government Area by providing platforms for participants to share their knowledge and experiences with each other, helped participants develop leadership skills, facilitated the formation of social support networks, empowered participants to advocate for community development and provide opportunities for participants to engage in community activities. It was further recommended that government should increase their commitment to the programme to help achieve development that is holistic in the society
