Abstract
This study titled school location and students academic performance in public senior secondary school in Edo state; a study of Oredo Local government Area. The objectives of the study are; to ascertain if there is relationship between school location and students academic performance, to identify significant difference in the relationship between school location and students academic performance based on school type and to ascertain significant difference in the relation between school location and student academic performance based on teachers qualification. Survey research design and descriptive design was used with a sample size of 8 obtained using stratified random technique. 8 copies of questionnaire were distributed to the respondents and 8 was returned, representing 100% which was used for the analysis using correlation. The result of the analysis was carefully studied and utilized in making the research findings which indicated that urban schools have better performances in WASSCE. They are more exposed to learning, have better infrastructures and have qualified teachers. This study recommends that government should invest more in rural schools to bridge the gap between students of urban schools and rural schools

his study was carried out to examine teenage pregnancy and youth development in Oredo local government area, Edo State, Nigeria. It drew sample from the 533,300 population of Oredo local government area.. It made use of four objectives. A 100% response rate was obtained from the questionnaires that was administered. The survey method of data collection was applied in the study because it is only the method best suited for the collection of data from a sample of a chosen population of any study, which was applicable in the study. The findings from this study shows most of the respondents know what teenage pregnancy is, this is because they are victims of teenage pregnancy or know someone who is. The main cause of teenage pregnancy is lack of proper sex education to teenagers. This study shows that family background has a role to play in teenagers falling victims of teenage pregnancy however, it does not relegate the fact that victims of teenage pregnancy live unfulfilled lives. The study recommends that the government should encourage NGOs that advocate for women and children so that they will constantly sensitize the public on the right sex education. It also recommends that counselling centers and rehabilitation facilities should be made available for victims of teenage pregnancy.

Flooding remains one of the most persistent environmental challenges confronting urban centers, particularly in developing countries such as Nigeria. This study investigates the application of urban drainage systems in flood reduction along Central Road, Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State, with emphasis on assessing existing drainage efficiency and developing sustainable solutions for stormwater management. The research integrates field observations, hydrological analysis, and Geographic Information System (GIS)-based spatial modeling to identify flood-prone zones, evaluate drainage capacities, and analyze runoff behavior within the study area. Findings reveal that the recurrence of flooding is largely attributed to inadequate drainage capacity, poor maintenance practices, and rapid urbanization, which increase surface runoff and hinder effective flow conveyance. Based on the hydrological and spatial analysis, the study proposes practical interventions including drainage channel redesign, desilting programs, installation of retention structures, and the integration of nature-based solutions to improve stormwater conveyance and enhance urban resilience. Community involvement and public awareness were also identified as critical components for long-term flood management. This research contributes to sustainable urban planning and flood mitigation efforts by demonstrating how GIS supported hydrological analysis can inform the design and optimization of urban drainage systems. The findings provide valuable insights and actionable recommendations for policymakers, engineers, and urban planners seeking to reduce flood vulnerability in similar urban environments.

The study examined the role of adult education in promoting women empowerment in Oredo local government area of Edo state. However, four research questions were raised to guide the study which includes; 1. What are the adult education programmes existing in Oredo local government area of Edostate? 2. How does the adult education programme in Oredo local government promote women empowerment? 3. What are the challenges faced by women in access to adult education programme aimed at promoting empowerment? 4. To what extent do community perceptions and cultural factors influence the participation of women in adult education programmes, and how these factors affect the outcomes of empowerment initiatives in Oredo L.G.A. The study adopted a survey research design with a sample size of 100 respondents drawn through a simple random sampling technique. A self-structured questionnaire designed with a modified Likert Scale method made up of a-two-point rating scale of Yes or No was however adopted for the study. After the validation of the instrument, it was pilot-tested on a sample of 20 respondents for reliability and the data collected were analysed using descriptive which involved frequency count, simple percentages and mean score. The findings revealed the following: The first research question, which bothers on the existence of adult education programmes in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State revealed that there are several adult education programmes existing in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. As majority of the respondents strongly agreed to this assertion. Secondly, research question 2 revealed how adult education programmes in the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State promote women empowerment. The findings revealed that a whopping percentage of the respondents strongly agreed that the adult education programmes in Oredo Local Government Area can promote women empowerment. The findings revealed that the perception of the community towards the participation of women in adult education programmes is relatively high and encouraging, as a striking percentage of the respondents strongly agreed to this assertion. Based on the study’s findings, the following recommendations were made: firstly, the government should develop a financial assistance scheme or scholarships, grant or low-interest loans to help women overcome financial constraints and afford participation in adult education programmes secondly, the literacy providers should launch a targeted awareness campaigns to inform potential adult learners about the availability and benefits of adult education programmes, utilizing various channels such as community outreach events, social media, and partnerships with local organizations.

This study examines the challenges that hinder the effective teaching and learning
of English language in Senior Secondary Schools within Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria. Despite the widespread recognition of English as a crucial subject in the Nigerian education system, students' performance in English has been consistently poor, as highlighted in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) reports from 2016 to 2021. This research aims to explore various factors such as administrative challenges, curriculum content, and teacher-related issues that contribute to this problem. The study also investigates the extent to which instructional materials are utilized in the teaching process. The research utilizes a questionnaire distributed to English language teachers in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area to gather data on the challenges faced by teachers, the impact of their qualifications and teaching attitudes, and the use of available instructional materials. The study identifies key barriers such as large class sizes, inadequate teacher training, and limited access to teaching resources. Teacher-related factors, including negative attitudes towards the subject and ineffective teaching methods, also play a significant role in hindering students' interest and performance in English. Based on the findings, the study proposes strategies to improve English language teaching in the region. These include enhancing teacher training programs, improving access to instructional materials, and integrating technology into the classroom to foster a more engaging learning environment. The research aims to provide evidence-based recommendations that can inform educational policies, school administration practices, and teaching methodologies, ultimately improving students' performance and attitude towards English language education in Oredo Local Government Area.

This study investigated the perceptions of preschool teachers on the impact of early talent identification (ETI) on the academic performance of children in Oredo Local Government. A cross-sectional survey approach was employed. The population comprised all the preschool teachers in Oredo Local Government Area. The Sample was 100 preschool teachers selected through convenience sampling technique. Descriptive statistics validated by three lectures in the institute of Education was used to analyse the data. The findings revealed that teachers perceive early talent identification positively, acknowledging its role in enhancing academic performance through tailored support and enrichment opportunities. However, challenges such as parental attitudes, resource limitations, and systemic inadequacies hinder effective talent identification. Despite challenges, teachers are highly rated in implementing
curriculum differentiation and enrichment for early talent identification. The research underscores the importance of early talent identification in preschool education and emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts to optimize learning experiences for children in Oredo Local Government. Based on the findings, it was recommended
among others that Edo State Government and School Operators should allocate sufficient resources to overcome limitations in facilities, materials, and staffing that affect building of preschool talent.

Abstract
This study focuses on the study of the roles of social welfare services on broken homes Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The idea of this investigation is to expose the form of social welfare services in the Local Government, the utilization of the available services and the awareness of the people on the available social welfare service in the Local Government. A total of one hundred (150) in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State were used for the study. Questionnaires was the instrument used to collect data, the research instrument used for collecting the data were subjected to both reliability and validity test before it was administered to the residents. A self-completion questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using tables, pie and bar charts. From the findings of the study, it was discovered that when social welfare services is improved that is when it better meet the needs of the community and its members and that improved social welfare service can help people from broken home with support and access to necessary resources both financially and otherwise as it can influence the economic stability of individuals and families living in broken homes. Though many people are aware of social welfare services in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State, they often encounter challenges while utilizing these services.
