Abstract
The study was carried out to investigate the influence of instructional materials on the academic performance of junior secondary school students in English Language in Isoko-North Local Government Area of Delta State. With a comprehensive scope, the research endeavors to unravel various dimensions of this dynamic relationship. Firstly, the study seeks to ascertain the availability and adequacy of instructional materials within Junior Secondary Schools in the specified region. Through meticulous examination, it aims to identify the range of instructional materials currently accessible to students and educators alike. Furthermore, the research endeavors to probe deeper into the qualifications of English Language teachers within these schools, shedding light on the proficiency levels and qualifications required for effective teaching. Central to the investigation is the utilization of instructional materials within English Language classrooms. The study aims to scrutinize the extent to which teachers integrate these materials into their pedagogical practices and the impact thereof on students' academic performance. oreover, the research undertakes a comprehensive 8 analysis of the diverse types of instructional materials employed in English
Language classrooms, examining their differential effects on student learning outcomes. In addition to assessing the relationship between instructional material availability and academic performance, the study delves into students' perceptions of instructional material usage. By exploring students' perspectives, the research aims to gain invaluable insights into the efficacy of instructional materials in facilitating learning experiences. Furthermore, the study identifies and analyzes the challenges encountered by teachers in effectively utilizing instructional materials. By delineating these challenges, the research endeavors to propose innovative strategies aimed at optimizing the use of instructional materials to enhance students' academic performance. Through an exhaustive analysis of these multifaceted aspects, this research endeavors to provide a comprehensive understanding of the intricate interplay between instructional materials and student academic performance. Ultimately, it seeks to offer actionable insights and recommendations to enrich the quality of English Language instruction and elevate student learning outcomes in Junior Secondary Schools.

The purpose of this research work is to examine the extent to which the selected public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State utilize quality and adequate instructional materials in classrooms and how this has promoted the academic performance of students.The aims of the study were to find out the extent to which the selected public secondary
in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State utilize quality and adequate instinct materials and how it had promoted academic performance of students, to explore the views of teachers and students on the extent to which instructional materials affects student’s performance and also the challenges that teachers in public secondary schools face in accessing instructional materials. The study employed survey method with questionnaire as a tool to elicit response from the respondents, from a sample size of one hundred and thirty- eight (138) respondents.The following were findings of the study: first, instructional materials are the key to teachers’ and students’ performance. Secondly, most public secondary schools in Egor local government Area of Edo state suffer shortage of essential teaching and learning materials. Thirdly, the study revealed that teachers used different strategies to minimize the challenges of attaining and using quality instructional materials like borrowing books and improvation.

PROBLEMS OF THE EDUCATION OF THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED IN NIGERIA.A CASE STUDY OF OREDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

The subject matter of this research work is the problems of the education of the physically challenged in Nigeria. A case study of Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The total population of this study was two hundred and sixty-seven (267) persons, using a simple random sampling technique, the numbers of respondents became one hundred (100). Four research questions were formulated to guide the study, from which the questionnaire was designed. From the analyzed data, it showed that the problems of educating the physically challenged students in schools include; Unequipped teachers, lack school facilities, attitude of non-disabled students towards physically handicapped student. That the identify the conditions for educating physically challenged students include; facilities like braille reading materials, measurement kits for the visually impaired, hearing aids for hearing impaired. That the instructional resources provided for the education of the physically challenged include; Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM), National Instructional Materials Access Centre (“NIMAC”), it was revealed that there are specialized teachers, equipped classrooms, and facilities. That government should ensure that the classroom is arranged in such a manner that the physically challenged child can move above the classroom with minimum stress, extra time should be given to students to enable them conclude assigned functions and for carrying out assignments and tests
