Abstract
This study explores how automation is transforming workforce skills in the manufacturing industries of Edo State. In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, automation technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning are not only streamlining production processes but also reshaping the skills required for modern jobs. By surveying workers, supervisors, and managers in key manufacturing hubs across Edo State, the research investigates the extent to which automation increases the demand for technical expertise and alters traditional labor roles. The findings reveal that while automation boosts productivity and opens up new job opportunities, many workers face challenges adapting due to limited training and resources. This study emphasizes the need for continuous learning and strategic collaboration among industries, educational institutions, and government bodies to bridge the skills gap. Ultimately, the research provides practical recommendations aimed at ensuring that the benefits of automation lead to economic growth and enhanced employability rather than job displacement. The insights from this study contribute to policy discussions and offer a roadmap for creating a more skilled, adaptable workforce in Edo State.

INFLUENCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING APPS ON LITERACY DEVELOPMENT AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

Abstract
The study investigated the influence of English language learning apps on literacy development among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It also ascertained the extent of availability of English language learning apps in secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State; examined the effect of English language learning apps on literacy development among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area; found out the effect of English language learning apps in improving reading skills among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area; and investigated the effect of English language learning apps in improving writing skills among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The research design adopted for this study is the descriptive survey research design. The population for this study was made of all the 5,266 public senior secondary school students in the 12 public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size for the study was made up of 120 students. The instrument that was used for the data collection is a structured questionnaire titled “Influence of English Language Learning Apps on Literacy Development Questionnaire (IELLALDQ)”. The test re-test method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument. A reliability coefficient of 0.87 was obtained, indicating that the instrument is reliable for the study. The researcher made use of descriptive statistics such as mean score and standard deviation as the method of data analysis. The findings from the study include that there is a significant effect of English language learning apps in improving the reading and writing skills among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is a significant effect of English language learning apps on literacy development among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that schools in Egor Local Government Area should incorporate English language learning apps into their curriculum to enhance students’ literacy development. This can be achieved by scheduling regular app-based learning sessions as part of English language instruction.

INFLUENCE OF MARITAL CONFLICTS ON THE EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT OF POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS IN EDO STATE

Abstract
The study examined the influence of marital conflict on the educational advancement of post-graduate students in Edo State. The need to address the concern of stakeholders over the influence of marital conflicts on the educational progress of postgraduate students, in university of Benin, Benin City necessitated this study. To guide the study, five research questions were raised, hypothesized and tested at 0.05 alpha level. The study adopted Survey research method to measure the differences between the variables of the study. The population of the study was Eleven thousand, five hundred (11,500) married postgraduate students in the University of Benin, Benin City, while the target population was Five hundred and thirteen (513) married postgraduate students from the Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City. The sample of the study consisted of Two hundred and twenty five (225) married post graduate students selected through purposive sampling procedures. The research instrument used in collecting data was a self designed questionnaire titled: “Marital Conflict and Students Educational Advancement Questionnaire (MCSEAQ)”. The instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor in the Department of Educational Foundations and two experts from the Faculty of Education, University of Benin. The Cronbach’s Alpha Statistics was used to establish the reliability of the instrument, the alpha value of 0.87 was obtained. Demographic characteristics of the respondents were analyzed with percentage while the hypotheses formulated were tested using Chi-square statistics. The findings revealed that there is a difference between the nature of marital conflicts among employed married post-graduate students and unemployed post- graduate students in University of Benin. The study also showed that there is a difference between the causes of marital conflicts among employed married post- graduate students and unemployed post-graduate students in University of Benin and that there is a difference between the influence of marital conflicts on the educational progress of married male post-graduate students and that of married female post-graduate students in the University of Benin. The study further revealed that there is a difference between the coping strategies employed by employed post-graduate students of University of Benin experiencing marital conflicts and that of unemployed post-graduate students of University of Benin experiencing marital conflicts, In view of the findings, the study recommends, among other, that the findings of this study be made available for use in educational planning and improvement. There was need for the University of Benin to have guidance Counsellors, who could counsel married students experiencing marital conflict.

This study titled school location and students academic performance in public senior secondary school in Edo state; a study of Oredo Local government Area. The objectives of the study are; to ascertain if there is relationship between school location and students academic performance, to identify significant difference in the relationship between school location and students academic performance based on school type and to ascertain significant difference in the relation between school location and student academic performance based on teachers qualification. Survey research design and descriptive design was used with a sample size of 8 obtained using stratified random technique. 8 copies of questionnaire were distributed to the respondents and 8 was returned, representing 100% which was used for the analysis using correlation. The result of the analysis was carefully studied and utilized in making the research findings which indicated that urban schools have better performances in WASSCE. They are more exposed to learning, have better infrastructures and have qualified teachers. This study recommends that government should invest more in rural schools to bridge the gap between students of urban schools and rural schools

the sub-ordinate attitudes towards management in Edo Broadcasting Service, to examine the leadership
style on the generality of workers attitude towards the handling of organisational equipments in Edo
Broadcasting Service and to proffer possible solutions to the challenges of effective leadership style in Edo Broadcasting Service. The study adopted survey research design. The population of this studyac cording to the Human Resource Department in Broadcasting Service (EBS), Benin City, Edo State is 123 staffs. The sample size for this research comprised of a total of 101 employees selected from various
departments present in the organization which include News, programs, marketing, and corporate affairs department respectively. The instrument used for the collection of data was the questionnaire which was administered to the study sampled respondents. Out of the 101 questionnaires distributed, 98 copies were retrieved. The data collected was analyzed using simple percentage. The study found amongst others that leadership styles have an impact on workers punctuality in EBS. Furthermore, policy recommendations were adopted which include amongst others that management should also imbibe supportive leadership style in EBS.

EVALUATION OF USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR CRITICAL DEMOCRATIC CITIZENSHIP IN EDO STATE, NIGERIA.

Abstract
This study evaluated the use of social media for critical democratic citizenship among residents of Edo State, Nigeria. The study addressed the following research Objectives: Ascertain social media users’ engagement with government policies in Edo state, determine the level of social media users’ criticism of the democratic process, examine citizens Critical reflection on the political and economic systems in place on social media, evaluate how citizens have used the social media to call for social justice, ascertain the relationship between government performance and critical democratic citizenship. Survey method was adopted, with a cross sectional design, using purposive sampling technique. A sample of 400 respondents was drawn from the estimated 960,000 Social media users in Edo State (Datareportal's Digital 2023 Report). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that social media is widely used for political awareness, active engagement in discussions but activism remains limited. Respondents reported using social media daily to stay informed about political issues (Mean = 3.68, SD = 1.40), but active participation in discussions was less common (Mean = 3.02, SD = 1.23). WhatsApp emerged as the most preferred platform for political discussions (Mean = 3.46, SD = 1.28), while Instagram was the least preferred (Mean = 2.14, SD = 1.28). Users trust social media for government-related information (Mean = 3.97, SD = 1.44) but exercise caution in verifying content before sharing (Mean = 4.14, SD = 0.87).Demographic factors influenced social media engagement, with men and older individuals showing higher participation rates, while women and highly educated individuals exhibited lower levels of engagement. For instance, 68.8% of respondents were female, and 49.9% held postgraduate degrees, yet engagement among these groups was lower compared to their counterparts. A moderate positive correlation was found between social media engagement and critical democratic citizenship (r = 0.461, p < 0.01), indicating that active users are more likely to participate in democratic processes. However, despite recognizing the impact of government performance on civic engagement (Mean = 4.67, SD = 0.68), this awareness does not always translate into active participation. The study concluded that social media is a vital tool for political awareness in Edo State, but active engagement, criticism, and critical reflection remain limited. To address these gaps, the study recommends the implementation of educational programmes to promote responsible and critical engagement with political content and developing targeted initiatives to increase the participation of women and highly educated individuals in online political discourse.

This study investigated the causes of flooding in Egor Local Government Area. In carrying out this study questionnaire were sorted using SPSS version 21. The result from this research work revealed that there are both physical and anthropogenic causes of flood in Egor Local Government Area from respondents perception. The physical causes in their order of importance include: heavy rainfall, lack of vegetal cover, topography (low-lying areas etc). amongst others. While the anthropogenic or humaninduced causes in their order of severity include: increase in built-up areas (urbanization), poor drainage system, blockage of drainage system with debris and so on. This research approach which is purely descriptive or exploratory in nature has indeed create robust awareness on the human-base activities and the physical factors responsible for the flood problem in the study area Thus, this study
saw the need to adopt some measures such as adequate drainage system provision, proper refuse disposal system, creating environmental awareness, raising building foundation in low lying areas, and so on to prevent, control and mitigate the causes of flood in the study area . Undoubtedly, this study is an eye opener to residents, leaders, planners within the study area and may also provide vital
information and guide to researchers and government on the causes of flood in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria

ANALYSIS OF FRESH FISH MARKETING IN IKPOBA OKHA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE, NIGERIA

This study was carried out to analyse fresh fish marketing in Benin Metropolis. The specific objectives are to; describe the socio-economic characteristics of fresh fish marketers in the study area; ascertain the marketing Chanel for fresh fish in Benin Metropolis; estimate the profitability of fresh fish marketing in the study area and
identify the challenges confronting fresh fish marketing in the study area. A three stage sampling procedure was used in the study. The final stage involved the use of simple random sampling technique in the selection of 72 respondents. Both primary
and secondary data were used in the study. Primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire through field survey and interview schedule. The collected data were measured and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages, mean and standard deviation. Profitability was analyzed using Gini coefficient and market margin while the hypothesis was analyzed using multiple regression. The results showed that majority (73.6%) of the marketers were female and 42 years old. The results also indicated that most (77.8%) of the marketers were married, with Primary School living certificate and 5 persons within household. The results indicated that 84.93% of the marketers had marketing experience of 2 to 11 years, majority (55.6%) of marketers are not member of cooperative society and 77.8% are full time marketer. The total margin was 178519.1781 and marketing margin was N154741.54. The results showed that there was a negative and significant relationship between marketing experience and fresh fish marketing at 10% level of probability. The results also showed that contact with extension agent has a positive and significant influence on fresh fish marketing in the study area. The challenges confronting fresh fish marketing is shown in Table 4.5.

ASSESSMENT OF MONITORING ACTIVITES ADOPTED IN VARIOUS FOREST OPERATIONS IN EDO STATE, NIGERIA

The monitoring activities adopted in various forest operations in Edo State were investigated in this study. The relevant issues related to the monitoring methods adopted, personnel involved, impacts and challenges of the monitoring methods adopted was studied with the aid of questionnaire. The result showed that there were significant differences among the agents involved in forest monitoring (P<0.05) and further analysis with LSD identified State Department of Forest (SDF) as the most dominant. The result revealed that both operational and strategic monitoring method is being adopted (85.5%), and there were significant difference among the adopted methods in operational and strategic method (P<0.05), further analysis identified patrol for monitoring log movement, and goal-oriented method as most dominant respectively. The result also revealed that the participatory method in forest monitoring is main professional-based and locally-based, 53.63% and 30.43% respectively. It revealed that there was no significant difference among the participation of local members in participatory forest monitoring (P<0.05). It reveal also that there were significant difference
among the challenges on proper forest monitoring (P<0.05) and further analysis with LSD identified inadequate manpower, underfunding and insecurity as the most dominant. It was observed that there was no significant difference among the impacts of the monitoring methods adopted in the State’s forest estate.

ANALYSIS OF NUTRITIONAL AND FUNCTIONAL PROPERTIES OF MORINGA OLEIFERA ROOT, LEAF AND SEED IN EDO STATE

Abstract
This study analyzed the nutritional and functional properties of moringa root, leaf, and seed including the awareness and utilization of the plant among different demographic groups in Edo State. The research adopted a mixed-method approach, combining laboratory analysis (quasi experimental design) and survey methods. The sample size for the study is 180, representing 10% of the population; 80 market women, 60 community men and 40 community youths. Proximate analysis was conducted to determine the moisture, ash, protein, fat, fiber, and carbohydrate content of moringa seeds and leaves. Additionally, the mineral composition of the leaves was examined to assess their micronutrient profile. A structured and validated questionnaire was used to evaluate the level of public awareness and demographic differences(age and gender) regarding the nutritional and functional benefits of moringa. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient of 0.99. Findings from the study indicated that moringa is rich in essential nutrients, including vitamins (A, B, C, D, and E), minerals (calcium 641.2mg/100, iron 18.14mg/100, phosphorus 71.1mg/100, potassium 26.1.1mg/100), proteins 27.61%, crude fat 2.5%, carbohydrate 47.09%, Ash content 9.25%, fibre fat 10.11% and antioxidants (Alkaloids, tannins, phenolics, saponins, flavonoids and steriods. The functional properties of moringa include antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer effects, making it highly beneficial for human health. Despite these benefits, public awareness and utilization remain significantly low, particularly among younger demographics (15-20years). Indicating that the awareness increases significantly with age, (aged 45 and above). The study also revealed that moringa can serve as a viable alternative for addressing malnutrition (x = 2.86), terminal ailments (x = 2.87), lactation (x = 2.93), cooking (x = 2.92), tea (x =3.13), improving food security, and enhancing economic development through commercial cultivation and product. Based on these findings, the study recommended amongst others; increased public awareness campaigns, integration of moringa into government nutrition programs, promotion of large-scale cultivation, and encouragement of moringa-based industries for food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
