LEVERAGING ON AGRICULTURAL YOUTH SENSITIVE POLICIES: A WAY FORWARD IN ENHANCING YOUTH INCLINATION TOWARDS AGRICULTURE

Abstract
This research work aims to investigate how agricultural youth sensitive policies can be leveraged to enhance youths inclination towards agriculture. The population of study comprised of 67 students from 200level to 400level studying Agriculture Education in the Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin city, Edo State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study . The entire population of 67 students was used because of the few students enrolled to study agriculture education in the department. Questionnaire was administered to them ,which was collected immediately after filling. Five research questions were raised to guild the study. The instrument was validated by 3 experts from the Department of Vocational and Technical Education Faculty of Education . The data collected was analyzed using frequency count, mean and standard deviation. The findings of this study reveal that the current state of youth participation in agriicilture is low. It also examine the barriers and challenges facing youths participation in Agriculture. The study also revealed the existing agricultural youth sensitive policies. The limitations of agricultural youth sensitive policies and also to analyse the roles of government in implementing agricultural youth sensitive policies. It was recommended that efforts should be made by enhancing youth inclination towards agriculture by providing incentives, training programs and mentorship opportunities to attract and retain young people in the sector. Another recommendation was that the youth sensitive policies should be reviewed and strengthened to address the limitations identified by incorporating feedbacks from young farmers , providing financial support and ensuring policies are responsive are responsive to the needs and aspirations of the youth.

Abstract
The study assessed the Influence of Incessant Strike on Business Education Students Skill Acquisition. Six research questions were raised to guide the study and the null hypothesis was formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population of this design was made up of 324 Business education students in 100 to 400 level in the University of Benin (The office of the Head of Department, 2023). The sample size of this study comprised 113 Business education students in 100 to 400 level in University of Benin, Benin City. The proportionate sampling technique of 35% was used to arrive at the sampling size of 113. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire. The questionnaire was titled “Influence of Incessant Strike on Business Education Students Skill Acquisition” (IISBESSA). It was however subjected to face validated by the researcher’s supervisor
and two other experts in the Department of Vocational Technical Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin city, Edo state. To establish the reliability of the instrument, Cronbach alpha statistics was used to measure the level of consistency of the items. The instrument was administered once to twenty (20) Business education students in University of Benin who were not part of the sample size of the study. A coefficient of 0.79 was obtained which indicated that the instrument was reliable. The data collected from the respondents was analysed using mean ( �ത ), standard deviation (SD) and two sample independent t-test.

IMPACT OF WORKPLACE MOTIVATION AND COMMITMENT ON EMPLOYEE EFFICIENCY

Abstract
This study was carried out to examine impact of workplace motivation and commitment on employee efficiency. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 50 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that there is a correlation between motivation and commitment, and employee’s efficiency. Also, there is a relationship between motivation and commitment, and employee’s efficiency. The study thereby recommend that employees must attend any training that can help in developing their career and getting a good performance in their work. And in other to increase employee workplace commitment there should be a form of motivation in form of incentives like, money, promotion, and bonuses

Abstract
The purpose of this research work was to determine the factors influencing the attitude of students towards business studies in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area . Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the research study and a total of 100 questionnaires were administered to secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area by adopting a simple random sampling technique. Findings revealed that business studies students at any level requires enough funding, money is required for the procurement of equipment as well as recruitment and training of the students. Business studies subject have had low social esteem in Nigeria and it felt that business studies subjects are meant for factory workers or for semi skilled work in the trade. It is recommended that training competent teacher is one of the strategies. Proper organization and administration of business studies subjects should be provided
to enhance the choice of the students. Use of appropriate instructional materials and methodology should also be considered.

A descriptive survey research was employed for this study. The population of the study consist of all the small and medium scale enterprise in Egor local government area of Edo State. A sample of 100 employees were randomly selected from 20 different business enterprise from the population. Questionnaire was the instrument used to elicit information from the respondents. The data collected was analysed using simple percentages. In order to ascertain the reliability of the instrument, it was administered to
hundred (100) employees selected from similar status as those in those used in the study however after the administration of the 100 questionnaire the data collected was analysed. From the findings of this study it was seen that the Covid-19 pandemic
impacted on small and medium scale enterprise (SMEs) in Edo State leading to loss of job to some workers. It was also seen that the Covid-19 pandemic impacted patronage of small and medium scale enterprise in Edo State. Also the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the sales of goods which led to a fall in revenue and resulted in a low profit ratio. So the recommendation includes, the government should invest more into small and medium scale business to ensure their survival during difficult times. Also the small and medium scale enterprise owners should identify and focus on their most valuable products and services and eliminate everything else.

CURRENT TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR BUSINESS EDUCATION GRADUATE TO BE GAINFULLY EMPLOYED AND SELF-EMPLOYED

The concept of 21st century learning and skill development involves learning motivated by practice of teaching students the most relevant, useful, current and globally applied technological skills. How well Business Education students will fare in the business world of work depend greatly on the appropriate skill they have acquired that will enable them fit into the society and the world of work. Hence, this study was conducted to ascertain the current technological skills required for business education graduates to be gainfully employed and self-employed in the world of work. A self-designed four rating scale questionnaire titled: Current Technological Skills Required for Business Education Graduate to be Gainfully Employed and Self-Employed (CTSRBEGGESE) was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by three experts and was also subjected to internal consistency testing using Cronbach Alpha, and the reliability coefficient obtained was 0.89. The sample of the study comprised one hundred and twenty (120) Business Education Graduates of 2022/2023 academic session: thirty four (34) males and eighty six (86) females in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State. As a result of the manageable size of the population, the population was used as sample. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data and find answers to the research questions, while t-test was used to test the research hypothesis. Findings of the study suggested that e-commerce, digital business analysis and communication skills are required for business education graduates to be gainfully employed and self-employed in the world of work. The result of hypothesis testing revealed that there is significant difference between the influence of technological skill on the employability of male and female business education graduates in the world of work. It was recommended among others that E-commerce, digital business analysis and communication skills should be inculcated in the business education curriculum to enable institutions in the proper training of undergraduates to fit into the world of work as they are the current technological skills relevant to the course of study required for business education graduates to be gainfully employed in the world of work

This project undertakes a comprehensive investigation into the specific employability skills that are not only valuable but, indeed, indispensable for these graduates to thrive in their workplace roles. The modern office has undergone significant transformations, driven by technological advancements, globalization, and shifting paradigms of work. To navigate this intricate terrain successfully, Business Education graduates must possess a nuanced skill set that extends beyond traditional academic knowledge. The study investigate The Challenges Facing Accounting Education in Nigeria Vocational Schools: A Case Study of University of Benin. Five (5) research questions were raised to guide the study. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised of two hundred (200) students from different faculties of the University of Benin. The sample size of this study were made up of one hundred (100) students from different faculties of the University of Benin. A proportionate sampling technique of 50% were used at the sample size of the study. The instrument used for data collection for the study was a well-structured questionnaire title “Challenges Facing Accounting Education in Nigeria Vocational Schools: A Case Study of the University of Benin (CFAENVC). The instrument for data collection were subjected to face validity by the researcher’s supervisor and two other expert from the Department of Vocational Technical Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City. To established the reliability of the Cronbach alpha statistical tool. it yield an alpha value of 0.86. The study used statistical analysis methods including mean, standard deviation, two sample independent t-test to investigate the Challenges Facing Accounting Education in Nigeria Vocational School: A Case Study of the University of Benin. Findings indicate that Inadequate learning resources like textbook and references materials, software and digital tools. affect the learning of accounting education, A lack of proper teaching aids, such as projectors, whiteboards, and functional classrooms limit instructors ability to x 1 1 2 4 4 6 31 47 deliver engaging and effective learning, and Poor funding for practical training affect the learning of accounting education in the University of Benin and Investment in accounting development program can enhance quality of education provided. Recommendation include Government should ensure equitable distribution of resources and address disparities and also provide special funding for facilities management and provide learning materials, Government should ensure a worthy amount is allocated to infrastructural improvement like investing in accounting laboratories equipped with computers and accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, and Zero, There should be regular monitoring and assessment of facilities, and Schools should incorporate ICT training into curriculum to improve students proficiency in accounting software based on the finding of the study. It was concluded that there are many challenges facing accounting education in Nigeria Vocational School.

TRAINING NEEDS REQURIED BY BASIC TECHNOLOGY TEACHERS IN EDO STATE

This study was carried out to determine the influence of technical teacher training on the competencies teachers posses in teaching basic technology in Edo state. Five research questions were raised to guide the study and four null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 significant level for the study. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study was 400 basic technology teachers of Oredo local government area of Edo State. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 100 respondents for the sample. The instrument used was a structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts. Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) was used to compute reliability of the instrument which gave a correlation coefficient of 0.72. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation and t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The result of the analysis shows that for a basic technology teacher to be considered competent such teacher must have, gone through teacher training, good knowledge of subject matter, proper usage of instructional aid and methods, good classroom and laboratory management skills and proper evaluation techniques. The t-test analysis showed that the four groups of teachers (male & female, rural & urban, experienced & inexperienced and public and private secondary school) did not differ significantly in their rating on the variables that is important for effective teaching of basic technology by teachers. It was recommended among others that Edo state Ministry of education should employ only qualified and trained technical teachers for basic technology, and the state government must also enforce the same strategies in the private sector. The performance of basic technology students is directly influenced by the qualification and quality of the teacher taking the subject.

This study investigates the perception of the relevance of Home Economics
Education among secondary school students in Oredo local government area of Edo State. Five (5) research questions were raised to guide the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey of a correlational type. The population for
this study consisted of Eighteen thousand, one hundred and six (18,106) students in
Government junior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area in Edo State. (Ministry of Education, 2024). The sample size of the study was made up of one hundred
and thirty two (132) Junior secondary school students in Egor local government area of
Edo state. A proportionate sampling technique of 0.73% was used to arrive at the sample
size of the study. The instruments used for data collection for the study was a structured
questionnaire titled: “Questionaire on Perception of Home Economics Education among
secondary school students (QPRHEESS). The instrument for data collection was
subjected tovalidity by the researcher's supervisor and two other experts from the
Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Faculty of Education, University of
Benin, Benin City. Findings indicated that the perception of students on the relevance of Home
Economics is significantly influenced by factors such as the gender of the students, Parents, Teachers and Peer group. It emphasized the critical role of Teachers in
influencing students attitude and perception. Their enthusiasm, teaching methods and
interactions with students significantly impact students engagement and motivation bin

Home Economics. The findings also suggest that parents are not fully leveraging their
potential influence on their children's perceptions, highlighting the need for educators and
policy makers to explore alternative strategies to engage students in Home Economics. Gender stereotypes and societal expectations can impact students interests and perception
of various subjects including Home Economics. The findings also imply that student's
perception of Home Economics are not heavily influenced by their peers group. Instead, individual interests, experiences, or other factors may play a more significant role in
shaping their attitudes towards the subject.
