Abstract
The Internet has simplified information services provided in this ICT era. One can easily acquire the required knowledge and information on a single click, thus, making information generation and dissemination timely. Regrettably, this may not be so for categories of individuals who seemed to have deviated from the original plan of the Internet for academics. This study examined the impact of internet on the student’s reading culture, the impact of internet on student’s academic achievement and the positive and negative impact of the internet on students’ reading academic performance. Convenient sampling technique with proportionate representation was used to determine sample size (100) students of selected secondary schools in Edo State. Structured questionnaire was used for data collection and this was supplemented with interview of key informants. Data was analyze using descriptive statistics which include measures of central tendency. Chi-square was use to compare observed data with data we would expect to obtain according to a specific hypothesis. The data collected was analyzed using statistical package for social scientist (SPSS). Results showed that majority of the respondents were of the opinion that internet usage is essential for educational development and that there is a significant relationship between internet usage and students reading culture. The study recommended that Management of secondary schools should organize seminars aimed at teaching the students the right use of the Internet to improve their reading culture, among other things.

AUTOMATED LOAN RECORD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

In many developing regions, loan management processes remain a significant challenge due to poor record keeping, limited accountability between lenders, borrowers, and guarantors, and the absence of structured digital administration tools. This project focuses on the design and implementation of an Automated Loan Record Management System delivered through a web- based platform, the LRMS Platform. The system was developed using Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) and a prototyping approach to ensure simplicity, usability, and scalability. The platform comprises nine modules: Administrator Login, Borrower Registration with fingerprint capture and photograph upload, Borrower and Guarantor Details with SMS reminder management, Loan Issuance, Bank Details, Repayment tracking, a Database Dashboard for visual analytics, a Saved Records interface for searchable borrower and guarantor retrieval, and an Offline Support page. Testing confirmed that the system accurately handles borrower registration, loan record management, repayment tracking, and administrator-initiated SMS reminders to borrowers and guarantors. The system is reliable, structured, and practical for lending organizations and cooperative societies seeking to improve loan administration, reduce
defaults, and strengthen accountability among all stakeholders

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ALERT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR SMALLAND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) often face challenges in managing the overwhelming number of security alerts generated by their IT systems. Traditional alert systems lack contextual intelligence, leading to alert fatigue, delayed responses, and missed critical incidents. This study presents a context-aware Alert Management System that enhances prioritization accuracy by incorporating operational factors such as alert frequency, entity type, business hours, and historical severity. The system was designed and implemented using a React-based simulation environment with 50 synthetic alerts representing realistic SME security events. Comparative evaluation between a baseline model ((Severity + Criticality)/2) and an enhanced model ((Severity + Criticality + Context Factor)/3) demonstrated a 42.42% reduction in alert fatigue and
complete elimination of false-positive high-priority alerts while maintaining 100% detection of genuine threats. The findings confirm that context-aware alert management significantly improves prioritization accuracy and analyst efficiency. The proposed framework provides SMEs with a cost-effective, transparent, and scalable solution for strengthening their cybersecurity posture and improving real-time incident response.
