Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to assess the Impact of Mass Media on grassroots mobilization and participation in rural development in Ovia North East Local Government area of Edo State. Five research questions were raised. The study adopted the survey research design. The population of this study comprise of two hundred and twenty-nine thousand and five hundred (229,500), adults in twelve (12) communities in Ovia North East local government area local government area of Edo State while four hundred twenty one (421) participants selected from twelve communities in Etsako West Local Government area made up the sample for the study. The instrument for the study was the questionnaire which was designed based on the research questions raised. The face and content approach was adopted to determine the validity of the instrument and a test-retest method was used to find out the reliability of the research instrument which produced a reliability coefficient of 0.71. In analyzing the data, the researcher made used of frequency count and simple percentage. Findings from the study revealed that the major media for mobilizing community members are radio and town crier, the level of community member participation in community development projects is high. The people’s perception of the use of mass media for grassroots mobilization is very poor, and that the extent to which the mass media has been effectively used to each the rural populace is marginal

This study investigated the impact of mass media campaigns against human trafficking in Nigeria. Employing a quantitative survey research design, data were gathered from 400 respondents across diverse demographics within Oredo local government. The study's findings revealed significant contributions made by mass media campaigns in raising awareness about human trafficking, challenging pre existing attitudes, and fostering positive perceptions. Additionally, the research confirmed the effectiveness of such campaigns in reducing the incidence of human trafficking, shedding light on their role in curbing this pervasive issue. The population-centric approach, focusing on Nigeria, served to unravel the complex dynamics of human trafficking awareness within this context, providing nuanced insights into its effectiveness. The convenient sampling technique facilitated data collection within a diverse population, ensuring both feasibility and robustness in the study. Data analysis was executed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27, with validity and reliability ensured through the Cronbach's alpha coefficient. This study underscored the pivotal role of mass media campaigns as influential tools in the fight against human trafficking. It offered a comprehensive understanding of their impact within the Nigerian landscape, offering valuable insights for policymakers, advocates, and organizations committed to addressing this grave issue. The research contributed to the existing body of knowledge by providing empirical evidence of the effectiveness of mass media campaigns in raising awareness, changing perceptions, and reducing the incidence of human trafficking in Nigeria. These findings carry significant implications for future campaign strategies and policies aimed at eradicating human trafficking in Nigeria and beyond.

This study was carried out to investigate the influence of mass media
on political awareness among youth in Benin city Four research questions were raised for this study which are outline how does exposure to different forms of mass media affect the political awareness and engagement of Nigerian youth? What role do specific mass media platforms, play in shaping the political opinions and behaviours of Nigerian youth? What are the perceptions and experiences of Nigerian youth regarding the portrayal of political issues and actors in mass media? To what extent do Nigerian youth trust the information disseminated by mass media regarding political events and issues?
The population of the study comprised of one hundred and seventyfour thousand, three hundred and sixty-two students (171,362) according to
the population census conducted in 2006. The sample for the study consists of one hundred and fifty (150) youths. The sample size for this study was selected using the random sampling technique. The major findings of the study it was revealed that the print media work
well with participatory approaches. it was indicated that unemployment is one of the socio-economic factors that influence the political awareness of Nigerian youth. It was seen that some students do not ask questions in class. It was seen that students like schools were the teachers are friendly. it was revealed that poverty is one of the socio-economic factors influence the political awareness of Nigerian youth. From the study it was recommended that to ensure effective, efficient and un-biased political mobilization by the mass media, there should be completely total autonomy, which will in turn ensure a free and independent press. It is the researcher's opinion that the independence of the media can go a long way to make things right and purposeful in political mobilization by the media to the general public benefit.
