Abstract
This study evaluates the role of mobile applications in enhancing service delivery across various sectors, including healthcare, public services, and customer support. The rapid adoption of mobile apps has transformed how services are accessed and delivered, making it essential to assess their effectiveness, usability, security, and user satisfaction. Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, this research analyzes the key factors influencing the use and success of mobile apps in service delivery. The study specifically examines the usability and user experience of mobile apps, the efficiency of service delivery, security and privacy concerns, adoption barriers, and the role of personalization features in boosting user engagement. A questionnaire was administered to users who regularly interact with mobile apps for service delivery, gathering insights into their satisfaction, challenges, and expectations. The findings reveal that while mobile apps generally improve service efficiency and engagement, significant challenges remain in areas such as technical stability, security, and accessibility. Notably, users expressed concerns regarding privacy and data security, which can hinder the broader adoption of mobile apps. This research highlights the importance of addressing these challenges to ensure the continued success of mobile apps in service delivery. Recommendations for improving app usability, enhancing security measures, overcoming adoption barriers, and leveraging personalization features are provided. The study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on mobile technology and its impact on service delivery, offering valuable insights for developers, service providers, and policymakers seeking to optimize the user experience and maximize the benefits of mobile applications.

TECHNO-ECONOMIC ASSESSMENT OF ENERGY LOSSES AND UNSERVED ENERGY IN A TYPICAL 11KV DISTRIBUTION FEEDER (A CASE STUDY OF GRA 11KV DISTRIBUTION FEEDER)

This project evaluates the techno-economic impact of energy losses and unserved energy on a typical 11kV distribution feeder, using the GRA feeder as a case study. Data were collected over one month from the GRA 33/11kV injection substation and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), then analyzed and simulated in PSS/E to estimate technical losses and voltage profiles. The study found that active power losses of 277.72 kW (equivalent to 277.72 kWh per hour) significantly contribute to network inefficiencies. When converted to monetary value using current tariff structures, these losses result in substantial financial costs across all customer bands, with Band A alone exceeding ₦1.39 million daily if sustained. Overall, the findings show that even moderate technical losses and outages can lead to significant financial burdens. This underscores the importance of improving network efficiency and reliability to reduce energy losses and minimize the economic impact of unserved energy

STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND TEACHER-STUDENT RELATIONSHIP IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Abstract
This study examines the relationship between teacher–student relationships and students’ academic performance in public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area. The research is motivated by concerns over declining academic outcomes and the need to understand how interpersonal dynamics within the classroom influence learning. A descriptive survey design was adopted, with a sample of students and teachers selected from selected public secondary schools using stratified and random sampling techniques. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and academic performance records, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential tools such as correlation and regression analysis.
Findings reveal that positive teacher–student relationships—characterized by mutual respect, effective communication, emotional support, and fairness—are significantly associated with improved academic performance among students. Conversely, strained or distant relationships were linked to low motivation, poor classroom participation, and weaker academic outcomes. The study also indicates that factors such as teacher attitude, classroom environment, and level of student engagement mediate this relationship.
The study concludes that the quality of teacher–student interaction plays a crucial role in shaping students’ academic success in public secondary schools. It recommends that teachers adopt more supportive and student-centered approaches, while school administrators should promote professional development programs that enhance interpersonal and classroom management skills. Strengthening teacher–student relationships is essential for improving academic performance and overall educational outcomes.

THE STRUCTURAL, MECHANICAL, VIBRATIONAL AND ELECTRONIC PROPERTIES OF PEROVSKITE USING DENSITY FUNCTIONAL THEORY

In this work, the structural, mechanical, vibrational and electronic properties perovskite materials are investigated in detail using spin-polarized DFT, using the Ultra Soft Pseudopotential (USPP) method in the Quantum Espresso (QE) software package, the total energy was calculated and the lattice constants optimized using the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) formulation of the eneralized Gradient Approximation (GGA). In excellent agreement with previously published theoretical values, the study produced optimized equilibrium lattice parameters, band structures, elastic constants, and elastic moduli. Additionally, the Density of States (DOS) and band structures were analyzed in order to comprehensively study the electrical characteristics. The findings support the efficacy of the computational techniques used and offer a thorough understanding of the structural, mechanical, and electrical properties of perovskites. These discoveries add to the growing corpus of information on perovskite materials and provide insightful information for upcoming studies and technological uses

AN ASSESSMENT OF THE ROLE OF SOCIAL WORKERS AND THE EFFECTS OF SOCIAL ISOLATION ON MENTAL HEALTH IN OLDER ADULTS IN OVIA NORTH EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Abstract
This study examined the role of social workers and the effects of social isolation on the mental health of older adults in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. Social isolation, a growing global concern among older populations, has been associated with depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and reduced overall well-being. In Nigeria, weakening family bonds, increased migration, and socio-economic pressures have heightened the vulnerability of older adults to isolation, yet limited empirical studies exist at the community level. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 100 older adults and 20 social workers through structured questionnaires and interviews. The findings revealed that many older adults experience significant social isolation resulting from widowhood, declining physical health, reduced community interaction, and minimal family contact. The effects on mental health were profound, including persistent sadness, anxiety, loneliness, emotional withdrawal, and reduced life satisfaction. Social workers were found to play important roles in counseling, advocacy, community outreach, and linkage to social and health services; however, their effectiveness was constrained by limited staffing, funding shortages, inadequate training in geriatric mental health, and logistical challenges. The study concludes that social isolation significantly impairs the mental health of older adults in the locality and that social workers, despite their commitment, require stronger institutional support to meet the needs of this growing population. It recommends increased government funding, enhanced community-based programs, improved mental health services, family-centered interventions, and expanded geriatric training for social workers. The study contributes to the body of knowledge on aging, mental health, and social work practice in developing countries and provides a foundation for further research on elderly care and social isolation

THE INFLUENCE OF WOMEN IN POLITICS IN PRE-COLONIAL BENIN KINGDOM: A CASE STUDY OF QUEEN IDIA

This study examines the influence of women in politics in the pre-colonial Benin Kingdom, with particular focus on Queen Idia as a case study. The research explores the political, social, and military roles played by women within the traditional governance system of the Benin Kingdom, challenging the common perception that leadership in pre-colonial African societies was exclusively male-dominated. Using a historical and qualitative approach, the study draws on oral traditions, archival materials, and existing literature to analyze the contributions of Queen Idia, the Iyoba (Queen Mother), to statecraft and power dynamics.

Findings reveal that Queen Idia wielded significant political authority, serving as an advisor to the Oba, influencing decision-making processes, and playing a pivotal role in military strategy, particularly during the reign of her son, Oba Esigie. Her leadership during periods of conflict and consolidation contributed to the stability and expansion of the kingdom. The study further highlights the institutional recognition of the Iyoba title as evidence of women’s formal participation in governance.

The research concludes that women, exemplified by Queen Idia, held substantial influence in the political structure of the pre-colonial Benin Kingdom. It recommends a re-evaluation of African historical narratives to more accurately reflect women’s contributions to governance and leadership, thereby enriching contemporary discussions on gender and political participation.

ASSESSING DIGITAL HEALTH LITERACY AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY ENGAGEMENT AMONG SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS WITHIN UNIVERSITY OF BENIN COMMUNITY

This study investigated the relationship between digital health literacy and physical activity engagement among sports enthusiasts within the University of Benin community. A descriptive survey design was employed; with a sample of 100 sports enthusiasts’ selected using purposive sampling technique. A validated questionnaire was used to assess digital health literacy levels and physical activity engagement which was established by the researcher and validated by two experts in the field of Human Kinetics and Sports Science. The data analysis of respondents’ bio data was done using mean, standard deviations and Pearson Correlation used in the analysis of data and testing of hypothesis. ANCOVA Statistics on difference in the frequency or intensity of physical activity between sports enthusiasts with higher digital health literacy levels and lower digital health literacy levels was also used. Data analysis revealed that majority of the sports enthusiasts had a high level of digital health literacy, which positively affected their physical activity engagement. A significant relationship was found between digital health literacy and physical activity engagement. However, no significant difference was observed in the frequency or intensity of physical activity between sports
enthusiasts with higher digital health literacy levels and those with lower digital health literacy levels. The conclusion that was made from the result of the research is that majority of the UNIBEN sports enthusiasts had a high level of digital health literacy, thus positively affecting their physical activity engagement to a high extent. The study recommends enlightening sports enthusiasts on the advantages of physical activity engagement using digital health literacy and increasing the frequency and intensity of physical activity to benefit from its health outcomes

THE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN MANAGING DISEASES OF INTERNATIONAL CONCERN IN NIGERIA: A CASE STUDY OF M-POX

his study looks into the spending behavior of students at the University of Benin, Nigeria, in order to establish the relationship between demographic factors such as gender, age, and academic level on expenditure behaviour. The purpose of the study was to gain a better understanding of how students’ money is spent in areas of food, transport, housing, academic materials, and personal expenses. A quantitative approach was used in the study where 228 questionnaires were completed and descriptive and inferential analysis were employed on the data collected. The results show that the amount of money spent by the students on food, transport, and housing is highest. The results of the statistical analysis indicate that there is no significant association between the gender of the respondent and the primary source of income, however, more males are likely to save than females. The result of the study shows that the academic level affects the spending and higher-level students spend more money on the necessities. The transport expense also depends on the age of students, the older students spend more money on transport.
The results conclude that, among students, academic level and age are important predictors of spending behaviour; the impact of gender is limited to saving behaviour. For practice, it is suggested that financial literacy be enhanced, housing and transportation be made cheaper, and financial aid be increased. Further research could be directed towards the patterns of spending at different universities, changes over time, the effect of financial aid and part-time employment on spending. This research can help to explain student financial problems and offers some practical suggestions for students, administrators and policymakers.

DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF A WASTE SEGREGATION SYSTEM

Effective waste management remains a critical challenge in many urban and rural communities, particularly in developing countries where improper disposal contributes to environmental pollution and public health risks. This project focuses on the design and fabrication of a waste segregation system aimed at improving the sorting of municipal solid waste at the source. The system is engineered to automatically separate waste materials into distinct categories such as biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable components using a combination of sensors, mechanical components, and control mechanisms.
The design incorporates affordable and locally available materials to ensure cost-effectiveness and ease of replication. Key components include a conveyor mechanism, sensing units for material identification, and sorting bins for categorized waste collection. The fabrication process involved assembling the mechanical framework, integrating electronic control systems, and testing the functionality of the system under different waste conditions.
Performance evaluation of the system demonstrated its ability to accurately segregate waste with improved efficiency compared to manual sorting methods. The results indicate that the system can significantly reduce human effort, minimize environmental hazards, and enhance recycling processes. The increasing prevalence of infectious diseases of international concern has underscored the critical role of international institutions in global health governance. This study examines the role of institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations (UN), and other global health partners in managing the outbreak of Mpox in Nigeria. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research analyzes the strategies, interventions, and collaborative efforts employed to prevent, detect, and respond to the spread of the disease. Data were obtained from secondary sources, including official reports, policy documents, and scholarly publications.
The findings reveal that international institutions have played a significant role in strengthening Nigeria’s public health response through technical support, funding, disease surveillance, capacity building, and public health awareness campaigns. These organizations have also facilitated coordination between national agencies and global partners, ensuring timely information sharing and resource mobilization. However, the study identifies challenges such as limited infrastructure, funding gaps, and occasional delays in response implementation, which hinder optimal outcomes.
The study concludes that while international institutions are indispensable in managing diseases of international concern, greater emphasis must be placed on strengthening local health systems, improving inter-agency coordination, and promoting sustainable health policies. It recommends enhanced collaboration between international bodies and domestic health authorities to ensure effective disease control and preparedness for future outbreaks.
