The study also examined the effects of parental socioeconomic status and sex on truancy among secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. To address the problem of the study, five research questions were raised and formulated into four hypotheses, and were tested at 0.05 level of significance. This study adopted pre-test, post-test, non-equivalent control group and Quasi experimental research design. The target population of the study consisted of all the thirteen thousand and fifty one (13,051) senior secondary school students from the fourteen (14) public senior secondary schools in Oredo local government area of Edo State. A sample size of two hundred (200) students made up of one hundred males and one hundred females were selected using balloting without replacement. The standardized questionnaire adapted from Ehindero (2015) titled: Students Level of Truancy Questionnaire (SLTQ) was used by the researcher with two sessions, A and B and administered to the students in their various schools to evaluate truancy level among students. This instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two other lecturers in the Department of Educational Evaluation and Counselling Psychology (EECP). The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach alpha statistics and it yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.64. Data were analyzed using the two way ANOVA, descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test scores in truancy level among secondary school students exposed to Self- Instructional Therapy; there is a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test scores in truancy level xii among secondary school students exposed to Self -Instructional Therapy and those in the Control Group; there is no significant interaction effect of treatment by sex on the level of truancy among secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, and there is no significant interaction effect of treatment by Parental Socio-Economic Status on the level of truancy among secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. Abstract
This study investigated random and systematic errors in 2024 NECO SSCEMathematics Multiple Choice Test Items among senior secondary school three students in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State Nigeria. The study specifically assessed extends’ of random and systematic errors and also the difference between observed random and systematic errors in 2024 NECO SSCE mathematics multiple choice test items administered to examinees in 2024.Three research questions guided the study. The study adopted a survey research design on a population of 1,270 SSS III students in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State The sample size was 320 selected through random sampling techniques in two stages. The instrument used for data collection was adopted from NECO.The instrument was the official NECO standardizedachievement mathematics multiple choice 60 test items with four options A-D administered and used for the in-school Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in 2024. The instrument was not validated because it was standardized. For the reliability of the instrument, it was administered on twenty students twice with three weeks’ time gap and subjected to Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistics to establish its dependability. The reliability coefficient of .84 was obtained. The data used for the study were collected independently by the researcher with the assistance of classroom teachers. Data were analysed using CrobachAlpha, Paired t-test and variance statistics respectively in R software. Findings revealed that the 2024 NECO SSCEMathematics multiple-choiceitemsexhibited 15.6% random error, 6.09% systematic error, suggesting a small but significantlevel of consistent bias in measurement with random error of 90.48% substantially higher than systematic error of 9.52%. It was concluded that the 2024 NECO SSCE Mathematics multiple-choice test items were more affected by unpredictable inconsistencies than by systematic bias. It was therefore recommended that item development procedures need to beenhanced by NECO in order to improve in the aspect of item-writing, moderation, and pilottesting processes to ensure all multiple-choice items are clear, discriminating, and free from x ambiguity that could increase random error. Also, that teachers; should adequately exposure students to standardized testing conditions and develop classroom assessments aligned withNECO standards to minimize performance fluctuations in summative assessment

Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of online counselling in addressing anxiety disorders among undergraduate students at the University of Benin, Nigeria. It was anchored on Cognitive Behavioural Theory, Self-Determination Theory, and the Technology Acceptance Model, which together explain the therapeutic, motivational, and technological dimensions of online counselling. The study adopted an ex post facto research design, and a sample of 394 undergraduates was drawn through proportionate stratified sampling. Data were collected using the Online Counselling Feedback Questionnaire (OCFQ) and analysed using Pearson’s product–moment correlation and Fisher’s Z tests at the 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between engagement in online counselling and reduction in anxiety symptoms (r = .252, p < .001), indicating that students who participated in online counselling reported lower levels of worry and tension. Further analysis showed a significant difference based on sex, with male students showing a stronger relationship (r = .376) than female students (r = .168). However, age did not significantly moderate the counselling–anxiety relationship. These findings suggest that online counselling is an effective and accessible tool for mitigating anxiety among university students. The study concludes that while online counselling holds strong potential to enhance student mental health, sex-responsive engagement strategies are essential to ensure equitable benefits. It is recommended that universities integrate structured online counselling systems, train counsellors in digital modalities, and promote awareness of technology-based mental health services within higher education institutions in Nigeria
