Abstract
The purpose of the study was to examine the role of radio in propagating culture in Nigeria. A
case study of Benin City in Edo State. The objectives of the study were to assess the level at
which Radio propagate culture and ways in which radio have impact on the people in Benin City. The study was anchored on cultural norms theory and social responsibility media theory. Survey
method was used and questionnaire was employed as instrument to collate responses. The
findings revea d that radio station propagate the cultural value of the people of Benin through
cultural and news programmes. The researcher therefore recommended that radio should
continue to promote cultural values through news/programmes in local languages and people
should try to listen to cultural programmes on radio.
