Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of literacy education on the attitude of market women towards environmental sanitation in Oredo Government Area of Edo State with a view to ascertaining how literacy education affect the attitude of market women towards sanitation in Oredo Local Government Area. During the course of this study, the concept of environmental sanitation, environmental education, relationship between sanitation, health and hygiene, the concept of literacy and environmental sanitation, the role of women in environment sanitation and what it entails, the role of Local
Government in Environment Sanitation and efforts of Government towards Environment and Efforts of Government towards Environmental protection were also examined in the course of this study. In this wise, five research questions were formulated and tested in the course of the study.

THE ROLE OF ADULT EDUCATION IN ALLEVIATING POVERTY IN BENIN METROPOLIS

Abstract
This study examined the role of adult education in alleviating poverty in Benin metropolis. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, five research questions were raised. The sample for the study consists of one hundred (100) adult learners selected from four (4) adult literacy centres in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The participants were selected using the simple random sampling method and data was collected with the aid of questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the instrument were ascertained using the test-retest procedures. Simple percentages and frequency count were used to analyze collected data. Findings from the study revealed that the several factors such as Irresponsibility of adult and lack of access to instructional materials, learning facilities, grants and start up capital could hinder the effectiveness of the programme. And based on the findings emanating from the study it was recommended that Stakeholders in education sector should ensure that adult literacy centres are well equipped with adequate learning resources and financial knowledge in other to boost their financial life. More also, that government, communities and instructors should partner together to checkmate highlighted factors respobible for poverty in the state.

Abstract
The study investigated the impact of Federal Government Amnesty Programmers on youth empowerment in Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State. Five research questions were raised to guide the study. The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised of one hundred and thirty eight thousand and five hundred and seventy(l38,570) youths in Warri North Local Government while the multi stage sampling technique was adopted by the study to select a sample size of 200 youths which constituted the sample for the study. A structure questionnaire titled: Impact of Federal Government Amnesty Programmers on Youths Empowerment Questionnaire (FIGAPYPQ) was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher 'supervisor as well as two other experts in the Department of Adult and Non-Formal Education in University of Benin, Benin-City The test re-test reliability method was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument while data collection was analyzed using simple percentages and frequency counts, In conclusion, Federal Government Amnesty programmer was seen as a veritable tool for alleviating poverty and equipping the youths with skills for self reliance thereby contributing to national development. The study therefore recommended that there should be increased funding from government to facilitate the effective delivery of the amnesty programmer. Also, that governments ix should place emphasis on economic empowerment programmers like access to free interest loans as start up capital and skills acquisition training programmers in the Niger Delta area.
