PERCIEVED INFLUENCE OF STUDY HABITS ON BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN

Abstract
This study investigated the perceived influence of study habits on academic performance of business education student. Five research question were raised in this study. This bothered on how study habits influence academic performance.
Descriptive survey design was used in carry out this study. The target population was 166 students of business education which comprises of this 3 levels 100, 200 and 400 level, 300level was exempted because of their non-presence at the time of research. The sample size of this research is 50% of the total population. The questionnaire was the instrument of this data collection. An analysis of data was done using mean score and standard deviation. From the result of the findings, the study revealed a significant relevance of study habits influencing the academic performance. It was also concluded that there is high extent to which study habits influence academic performance of business education students.
Based on the findings of this study, the researcher recommended that;
Business education teachers should teach the student on how to take important notes during every lesson. By so doing, the students would develop good habits of note taking and this could lead to good academic performance. For guidance counselors and school administrators, it is advised that they make interventions and monitor the student’s progress regarding their study habits and academic standing. They should hold seminars about forming good study habits or administering diagnostic tests and create a workable solution to help the students determine what study habits are effective for them. For parents/guardians, it is recommended that they actively partake in their children’s development regarding their academic journey. They should make an effort to know what study habit best work for their children so that they can work towards supporting them and providing them with an appropriate and adequate study environment. Doing so could help their children focus on their education and ultimately form good study habits
