Abstract
The study examined the Influence of Transformational Leadership Style on Teacher Job Satisfaction in Public Secondary Schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Four research questions were made; The population of the study consist of all the one hundred and ninety-six (196) teachers from the 14 public Junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size selected for this study is one hundred and twenty five (125) Junior Secondary School Teachers, selected randomly using simple random sampling technique. from the 14 public Junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State The findings of the study revealed that; Teachers who perceive their school leaders as transformational leaders report higher levels of job satisfaction. This suggests that inspiring and motivating leadership practices enhance teachers' morale. Transformational leaders foster an environment of trust, encouragement, and recognition, which significantly increases teachers' motivation and commitment to their roles. Schools with transformational leadership styles tend to provide better opportunities for teacher development, leading to improved job satisfaction. The following recommendations were made; Implement regular training programs to develop transformational leadership skills among headteachers and school administrators. Encourage school leaders to recognize teachers' efforts and achievements to boost morale and job satisfaction. Invest in continuous professional development opportunities tailored to teachers' needs to foster growth and satisfaction

EFFECT OF PROBLEM-SOLVING STRATEGY ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN CELL CONCEPT AMONG SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT

This study focused on the effect of problem-solving strategy on academic performance in cell concept among senior secondary school students in Egor local government as case study. The study is wasspecifically focused on determining if there was any significant difference between the level of achievement of students taught using problem solving strategy and those taught using the conventional lecture method, determining the attitudes of students towards cell concept problems when taught using problem solving strategies and finding out the influence of gender on students’ achievement in cell concept when taught using problem solving strategy. The study adopted the survey research design and randomly enrolled participants in the study. A total of 100 responses were validated from the enrolled participants where all respondent are senior secondary school students in Egor local government. The findings of this study showed that the performance levels of both male and female students after treatment improved significantly though male students achieved slightly higher than their female counterparts after exposure to problem solving strategy. The results further showed that students taught using problem solving strategy performed significantly better than their counterparts taught with conventional lecture approach. Furthermore, the result revealed that students in private schools performed better than the students in public schools after exposure to problem solving strategy. The study concluded that the use of problem-solving strategy promotes students’ understanding of concepts translating to optimal performance in cell concept examinations. It was recommended among others that authors and textbook writers of textbooks should transform textbooks into problem solving forms, apply and provide proper illustrations so as to meet the criteria of problem-solving strategy as doing this would help in enhancing students’ achievement

TEACHERS VARIABLES AND THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE ON BIOLOGY STUDENTS IN SENIOR SCHOOL IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

This study investigated the influence of teacher variables on the academic performance of senior secondary school Biology students in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria. The objectives of the study were to determine the prevalent teacher variables among Biology teachers, examine the relationship between teachers’ professional qualifications and student performance, assess the influence of teachers’ teaching experience, evaluate the extent instructional methods affect performance, and examine teachers’ attitudes towards teaching Biology. Five research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted an ex-post facto research design. The population comprised all Biology teachers and Senior Secondary II Biology students in Egor LGA. A purposive sample of 90 Biology teachers and a random sample of 100 students were selected. Two validated instruments, the Teachers’ Variable Questionnaire (TVQ) and Students’ Academic Performance Questionnaire (SAPQ), were administered. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions, while Chi-square statistics, was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 significance level. Findings revealed that the majority of Biology teachers in Egor LGA were female, professionally qualified, TRCN registered, and had over five years of teaching experience. Professional qualifications were found to significantly influence students’ academic performance. Teaching experience was also positively related to student achievement, with more experienced teachers being more effective. Instructional methods, especially student-centered approaches such as cooperative learning, demonstrations, and question-and-answer techniques, enhanced learning outcomes, while inquiry-based and fieldwork methods were less frequently employed. Teachers’ positive attitudes, including enthusiasm, punctuality, and commitment, were linked with improved student performance. The study concluded that teacher variables significantly determine the academic performance of Biology students in Egor LGA. It recommended continuous professional development, recruitment of qualified and experienced teachers, provision of adequate instructional resources, diversification of teaching methods, and motivation of teachers through incentives and recognition.

This study examined the impact ofpoverty on family dynamics in selected households in Egor Local Government Area Edo State. Specifically examine the relationship between poverty and patterns ofinteractions among relatives, ofind out ifthere is a relationship between poverty and roles and relationships, to evaluate ifa relationship exists between poverty and various factors that shapefamily member interactions, examine ifthere is a poverty can foster greater reliance and cooperation amongfamily members as they collectively navigate economic challenges, and alsofind out the effectiveness ofgovernmentprogram thatfocus on reducepoverty rate in Nigeria.Questionnaire was used as instrument of data collection. The sample size of the study will be approximately 400 consisting ofboth male andfemale adult living in EgorLocal GovernmentArea.The major finding showed that poverty has significant impact on family dynamics in selected households in Egor Local GovernmentArea Edo State. In analysing the respondent opinion it was also discovered that there is a relationship between poverty andpatterns ofinteractions among relatives, there is a relationship between poverty and roles and relationships, a relationship was found between poverty and various factors that shape family member interactions, poverty can foster greater reliance and cooperation among family members as they collectively navigate economic challenges. Respondent revealed that governmentprogram on poverty eradication are not effective in reducing poverty rate in Nigeria. The study recommend that Nigeria should increase their effort toward poverty reduction program which could in turn reduce the issue among relative in Nigeria.
