Adolescents in junior secondary school, typically between the ages of 11 and 14, experience a crucial period during which they form essential values and attitudes. The research work is carried out to investigate the influence of qualified teachers on student performance in English in secondary schools in Egor local government area of Edo state. The study was conducted among one hundred students drawn from
four (4) secondary schools in Egor local government Area. Questionnaires were designed, validated and administered to gather data and simple percentage (%) statistical method was employed in the analysis of the data. The result of the study revealed that the qualification of teachers have influence on the academic performance of secondary school students and that motivation plays a major role in student mastery of the subject. Arising from the findings, recommendations and conclusions were
made such as Government should employ more Teachers in schools, teachers should make use of motivation because they are important in students performance.
