Abstract
During the second half of the 19th century, the African churches emerged. Christ Apostolic Church had little or no quarrel with the doctrine, practices and the rituals of the white missionary. The formation of the faith Tabernacle, later, Christ Apostolic Church was a result of the unchristian of the Saint Saviour Anglican Church, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. This, as a factor triggered off the expected revival ofthe1930 by prophet Joseph Ayo Babalola. It is expedient to note the organization and administration ofthe Christ Apostolic Church. The hierarchy in the Church is succulently explained. Similarly, attention is focused on the different role of men and women through the formation of the church societies at national and state levels. These were created to foster the needed growth and development in the church. The Christ Apostolic Church right from its formationin1918as Aladura Group believers in holiness, divine healing and all sufficiency of God. After the great revival of 1930, where several people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the church combines a rare combination of holiness and Pentecostalism. The church had established the down to earth Christian worship in African perspective singing, drumming, and dancing in the culture of the African people

ASSESSMENT ON ALCOHOL ABUSE IN DELTA STATE: THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH IN CURBING IT

This study assessed the abuse of alcohol in Delta State, Nigeria, and the role of the church in curbing it. The specific objectives were to; ascertain the effect of alcohol abuse among Nigeria youths, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, examine the effect of alcohol abuse on the health of victims and to investigate the role of the church in controlling alcohol abuse in the society. Data for this study we're obtained from both primary and secondary sources. Results shows the percentage of people involved in the abuse of alcoholism high. 60% out of 100% of people are drinking alcohol excessively. The causes of alcohol abuse includes; social factors, psychological factors and biological factors. The effects of alcohol abuse is numerous; these includes drowsiness, cancer in the intestines, blurred or double vision, liver disease. Some solutions to alcohol abuse were home cure remedies, the Keeley Cure, established institutions, pastorial care, Biblical Teachings. This study concluded that the percentage of people abusing alcohol is high. The study therefore recommends that government and private institutions should provide well equipped institutions where alcoholics can go to for help.
