This project concerns the analysis of the significance of body parts idioms in the oring dialect of igbo spoken in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. The study was motivated by the need to document some metaphorical extensions in oring. The focus is on body parts idomatic usage in Oring. The data for the study were sourced from speakers of Oring living in Ebonyi state. The theoretical framework used was the Performative Semantic Theory which accounts for contextual meanings. The study found out among other things that body parts in Oring have metaphorical extensions such that the head can be extended to mean thoughts and state of mind. Also, the hand can be extended to mean involvement, exclusion or indifference and the heart can be extended to mean importance, decision or behaviour. The study concluded that body parts idioms are significant in Oring because they express certain aspects or nature of human behavior.
