THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING AND LEARNING COMPUTER SCIENCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOL

Abstract
This study investigates the impact of digital technology in teaching and learning computer science in secondary school. The study adopted the survey design on the basis of which data was sourced using questionnaire on a sample of 250 students in Benin Metropolis. The data was analysed using chi-square statistical tool. The result revealed that there is significant difference in the computer science teachers’ attitude towards the use of technology Tools. Secondly, the result shows that there is significant difference in the computer science students’ attitude towards the use of Technology Tools in learning. Similarly, the result indicated that there is no significant difference of self-efficacy in the use of Technology Tools in teaching of computer science. The result also shows that there is significant difference of self-efficacy in the use of Technology Tools in learning of computer science. The study recommends that since Technology Tools depends on power supply, the entire erratic power supply needs to be improved upon throughout the country. Also, school authority should improvise for alternative source of power supply such as generator set in case of power failure. More time should be allocated to the teaching of computer science on the time-table in our secondary schools so that there will be enough time for the teaching of computer science. Also, computer science teachers should not be too overwhelmed with too many assignments so that they will have time to plan technology enhanced classes. Teachers must be aware that for meaningful learning to take place, teacher- student interaction is an essential factor that must be strictly considered. It is therefore admonished that when integrating Technology Tools in computer science teaching, teachers should interact with the students while computer science teaching is going on.

This study examined the transportation problems affecting inland waterways in Nembe, Bayelsa State. A sample of 110 respondents, including boat operators, passengers, and residents, provided data through structured questionnaires. The findings revealed that insecurity and piracy constitute the most critical challenge affecting waterway transportation, alongside poor infrastructure, lack of safety equipment, and weak regulatory enforcement. These challenges lead to increased transportation costs, delays, loss of lives and property, and reduced economic activity. The study recommends improved security patrols, better infrastructure, strict enforcement of safety regulations, and increased government involvement and funding. The findings provide insights that can guide policy interventions to improve waterway transportation in Bayelsa State.

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the banking sector, with financial institutions increasingly leveraging digital platforms to enhance service delivery, improve customer experiences, and foster long term relationships. This study examines the relationship between digital technology and customer loyalty in the banking sector, focusing on Zenith Bank in Benin City, Nigeria. Despite substantial investments in digital banking solutions such as mo bile applications, internet banking, automated teller machines (ATMs), and AI driven customer support systems, challenges such as service reliability, security concerns, and limited customer awareness persist, affecting customer retention. This study employs a quantitative research approach to assess how key digital banking factors including accessibility, service quality, security, and customer awareness influence customer loyalty. A structured survey was administered to customers of Zenith Bank in Benin City, and the collected data was analyzed using statistical techniques to identify significant relationships. Findings indicate that while digital banking enhances convenience and accessibility, issues such as security concerns and system downtimes negatively impact customer loyalty. Moreover, customer awareness and trust in digital platforms play a critical role in determining long-term engagement with digital banking services.
