Abstract
The study examined Teacher-Student Ratio and Job Performance of Secondary School Teachers in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Three research questions were raised, and one hypothesis was formulated to guide the study. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 407 secondary school teachers from twelve (12) secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. A sample size of 120 respondents was used for the study. A self-structured questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents. Data obtained were analyzed using frequency counts and percentages. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation was used to analyze the research question 1 and 2 while Pearson was used to test the hypothesis. The findings from the study revealed that teacher-student ratio significantly influences the job performance of secondary school teachers in Egor Local Government. Based on the findings, it is recommended that an optimal teacher-student ratio, availability of teaching resources, and a well-structured working environment are essential for improving teacher job performance.
