Abstract
This essay explores Soyinka's cultural and political satire in Death and the King'sHorseman and The Beatification of Area Boy respectively. The goal is to unveil the illsin politics and governance in Nigeria as well as the errors in the socio-cultural set up of the Nigerian society, towards the goal of awakening readers to the need to solve the problemof corruption and underdevelopment, which is a product of political and socio-cultural decadence.
