Abstract
The study assessed the effectiveness of Adult Education Programme in
promoting the socio economic Development of Esan West Local Government. Five
research questions were raised to guide the study. The descriptive survey research was adopted for the Study. The population and
Sample size of the study was made up of 2000 people in Esan West local government and
100 as the sample size in Esan West Local Government. The instrument for the study was
a questionnaire titled "The effectiveness of Adult Education Programme in promoting the
Socio-economic Development of Esan West Local Government". Simple percentage
method of data analysis was used in analyzing the data gotten from the respondents. The
findings in the study revealed that Youth skill development programme In community, Intimate vocational skill programme in my community and different trainings available
for workers in Esan you West Local Government are the available Adult and programme
in Esan West Local Government, I am currently enrolled in the adult education
programme in my area, I became aware of Adult Education Programme through Radio
advertisement , The primary reasons for your participation in adult education programme
is to raise my economic , To be able to read and write or acquire skills of reading and
writing and calculation are level of participation of people in adults education programme
in Esan West Local Government, Adult Education Programme can help address
unemployed and underemployment problem in the community , Adult Education
Programme can contribute to poverty reduction efforts and you in the community, Vocational skill programme can contribute to socio economic development in Esan West
Local Government , Specific skills are most beneficial for adults to acquire through
education to enhance socio-economic development are ways Adult can promote socio
economic development in Esan West Local Government, It helps the adult in their daily
Life, The people are familiar with adult education programmes are how People in Esan
West Local Government perceive Adult Education Programme, The study recommends that; There should be sufficient awareness about Adult
Education Programme in Esan West Local Governmen, Adult Education Programme
should be more inclusive and accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds and
communities within Esan West Local Government, The use of technology Should be
integrated into adult
