EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN PUBLIC SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE.

Abstract
This study investigated Educational Facilities and Academic Performance of Students in Public Senior Secondary Schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To guide the study, four research questions were raised, three were answered directly while one was hypothesised and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The research used a descriptive study. 203 teachers from 12 public schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State were part of the study. Fifty (50) teachers from 5 public high schools were chosen by chance for the study. The study used a survey called the "Educational Facilities and Academic Performance of Students Questionnaire (EFAPSQ)" to collect information. After analyzing the data we gathered, we conducted some computations to determine the frequency of occurrences and their proportion relative to the total. Then we checked to see if there was a connection between different things, using a method called the Pearson product moment correlation statistic, and we considered any relationships that we found to be important if they were less likely to happen by random chance than 5 times out of 100. The research indicated that there are numerous schools in Egor Local Government Area that possess excellent educational resources. In public high schools in Egor, there were classrooms, science labs, chairs, tables, toilets, and electricity. Schools in Egor Local Government Area are lacking the necessary resources for education. Good facilities at public high schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State help students do better in their studies. Effective schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State help students to succeed. The recommendations were; secondary schools management should maintain and continue investing in the existing facilities to ensure they remain in good condition and meet the needs of the students, the condition and functionality of available educational facilities should be regularly assessed. Any necessary x repairs or upgrades should be made to ensure these facilities are fully equipped and meet the standards required for effective teaching and learning, a thorough needs assessment should be conducted to determine the specific areas where improvements are needed. Based on the assessment, plans should be developed to address these inadequacies and secure resources for necessary improvements. Lastly, the Government should prioritize allocating resources for educational facilities to ensure they meet the needs of the students and support their academic success.
